First visit to Kudu and so lucky to get a table on a Friday Night. Restaurant was buzzing with activity and nice dark mood lighting. Sat at the bar and watched the chef’s meticulously create fabulous food for their diners. Will definitely be back. Great flavours and fantastic looking food.
Great food, reasonably priced, lacking the exceptional - first time @ Kudu. As a party of two we decided to sit at the counter by the open kitchen. The restaurant had a great vibe and the service was friendly. We liked that they offered off-menu options for pescatarians/ vegetarians. The food was tasty but lacking depth of flavour and was too cold in some courses. Compared to other places of this category it felt reasonably priced. Details below: Party size: 2 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 8.5/10 Food: 7.5/10 Drinks: 8/10 Value for price: 8/10 Must have: treacle smoked salmon, great balance of flavour Disappointed: aubergine, lacked smokiness, too oily
What a place! The food was delicious and the service absolutely sublime. Big thanks to Janine who ensured my birthday dinner with my girlfriend was 10/10! She was great and ill definitely be back to the groups other restaurants after this experience
I'd heard great things about this place and wasn't disappointed. We were extremely lucky to get a walk in on a Sunday evening at 18.30. Every dish was just delicious and different. Wine was great and service excellent. Will be back and visiting their sister restaurant Kudu Grill too.
The food and service were absolutely amazing! The waiter talked us through the whole menu as we were not very familiar with South African cuisine. Depending on your seating you can watch the cooks prepare the dishes which makes the experience really authentic. I’m definitely going to dine at Kuzu again. Greetings from Germany!
We have been dying to wine and dine at Kudu, it didn’t disappoint! It’s a lovely atmosphere, feels like a real treat and the food is at another level. I would definitely recommend putting this restaurant on your list.
Kudu is a South African restaurant that won a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019 and since then has always been on my radar. I finally came here with a few friends for Sunday brunch and I think the place largely lived up to my expectations. I really liked the Onglet steak with Hispi Cabbage, enoki and truffle potato mousse. It’s good for two, so that’s £50 for a serving for 2 people. I highly recommend this and it’s one of Kudu’s signature dishes. It’s delicious! The Banana Bread Tatin was also really good. I can have this entirely for myself and I loved how the caramel, banana, and chantilly blended together as a delicious dish. We got the shakshuka, which didn’t come with any bread and topped with crispy kale and parmesan crisps. Overall, it was alright but I would recommend you order a side of sourdough for dipping. We also had the Chicken Liver Parfait which I thought was too sour and I couldn’t recommend. The service was quite slow and messy that we had to follow up on our sourdough bread a few times and a lot of the staff seemed like they saw past us. It was annoying trying to get anyone’s attention throughout the brunch when we wanted to order, when we were looking to add sourdough, and when we wanted the bill. They forgot the additional sourdough we ordered a few times. The food was good, unfortunately it was a bit letdown by so-so service.
The food here is excellent! We were sat at the counter and you really get to see the masters at work. The oglet is epic alongside the truffle potato mousse and cabbage. The scallops and duck hearts are also full of flavour. The burrata is the only dish I would not order again. I will definitely go again!
Amazing, delicious creative and affordable food. I wish I knew about this gem before. We went to this restaurant for brunch and I had the sourdough waffle with duck eggs and Home cured salmon and my partner had shakshuka with home made sausage. They were delicious. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and soft and slightly chewy and sweet with a delicious buttery taste. The eggs were poached to perfection and the home cured salmon had a delicate flavour that didnt clash with the sweet waffle. It was garnished with creme fraiche and this made the dish just perfect. For dessert we both had the sesame ice cream with chocolate ganache and chocolate crumble with a thin made of sesame seed and it’s easiest some of the best desserts I ever had. Even though I live far I’d happily return many times so I can try each one of their dishes.
The service here was really amazing. Came for lunch and although we were booked for counter seats when a garden seat was available the waitress kindly moved us. The Onglet was really delicious. It was tender and moist and really by itself without condiments was good. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the hispi cabbage and truffled potato mouse. I think the texture wasn’t to my liking and I only ended up have a small bit of it. My friend on the other hand loved it and ate mine as well. The French toast babka was also really good, and although it was cold when we got around to eating it as we ordered it at the same time as the mains it was nevertheless really good. I would definitely return and try more items on the menu.
