This charming station, surrounded by beautiful countryside and rich historical appeal, serves as an important transport hub connecting Manchester and Chester. The station was opened in 1862 as part of the railway line linking Chester and Manchester. It is currently located on the Chester to Manchester Line and is operated by Northern Trains. The station building reflects Victorian architectural style, with much of the original structure still preserved to this day.
A good small town station with plenty of seating and shelter available. There are multiple entrances to this station, perhaps not the best signposted on which exit will take you where though i.e out to which roads etc. Well located for the town.
Such a nuisance for a line that only has an hourly service; Northern cancel services due to staffing issues.
First time using this station.Very disappointed. Waiting for my taxi no seating in full sun yesterday was no joke at my age. To add insult to injury the opposite platform has an abundance of seating and canopy.
Terrible service at the booking desk. Constantly asked to wait 5 min whilst they changed over shifts, 20 minuets later open the line, then couldn't refund and issue a ticket for a lady.nSo I couldn't buy a ticket before boarding the train, which is frown upon!
