The reason for me voting 2 stars is because your not allowed to leave lesson until the teacher says so, but on the other hand you have to goto lesson early if you just had break. If you turn up late you can get a detention for it yet teachers constantly turn up late anyway. They also don't help with students who are being bullied or helping students learn how they want to learn. The homework that is being set is also too much and don't let you have a life out of school.
My son attends this school Year 10 and his experience over the past few years has been generally good. The language departments seem to be excellent and I also have to say i'm impressed with the Mathematics, History & Geography departments.nnHowever, alike to the previous reviewer, I have had some issues with the English, Science & Art departments.nnThe issues we have had are:n* Teachers turning up 10/ 15 minutes late. Then complaining that children should arrive on time.n* Teachers selecting certain students to focus on.n* Tecahers being unprofessional with criticism and almost 'picking' on certain children.n* Not teaching- getting children to copy out the whole syllabus from a text book.nnI have come to conclude that the only reason the school is getting a high pass rate of A*-C's is because 90% of the children in my sons class have after school Tutors!nnOverall, good departments & Bad departments making it unreliable. Hope this school improves to how it was a few years back*
Studio - amazing. Rest of the school - going downhill rapidly. As a parent, I am disappointed with the new headteacher and in my opinion a lot of good work and discipline that the previous head put in has been unravelled very quickly. In my experience, many parents are unhappy.
I can conclude, after my two children have attended this school and one still attends, that this school has unfortunately gone down hill since the opening of this 'studio school'.The teachers seemed to take more notice of the children in this 'studio school' and the rest are left to poor teaching.nnI have to say the only departments my children have confidence in , is the history & Maths departments.nnThe worst departments based on my children's complaints has to be the English department for one reason or another. The staff either don't know the content well enough, either have 'favourites' in the class and focus on the 'favourites' and leave the less talented feeling un inspired and having no confidence! On several occasions my daughter has come home feeling upset due to teachers criticising her work in front of the entire class. If it weren't for her year group that's now doing GCSE I would have definitely moved my children to another school!nI have also had a few problems in the food technology department as my children have come home on several occasions complaining that the teachers are unsure on the content of the topics!nnI have to conclude that these problems have only just occurred since the opening of the New Studio School and I feel like I no longer have faith in the school as a whole.nnMy other child, has recently left the sixth form and he too has stated that he has had problems in the last year. He said the departments that provided help was the history&Politics department. I praise the teachers who helped him in this department!
I went here and there was no support for me when I was a victim of bullying. The teachers knew and saw it was going on but did nothing. Also no mental health support. Would not recommend
