Visited for the first time on 20th May with some friends down visiting us from Stevenage - food was fantastic and service was great, you did waitresses but very helpful and down to earth especially Lucy - great first impressions we will be back again soon thank you !!!
This is the second time we have been here and never a bad meal. If rating means anything then this is better than a 5 star resturant. Recommendations too all, from work meals to loving couples. Birthdays to engagements like our is today. Thanks again to all at Kits Coty.
The food was good service ok but they need to be a lot more customer friendly.
This is a hidden gem of a restaurant, situated away from the hustle and bustle of the town in a picturesque location looking down on the hills and town below. I have visited this restaurant a few times with my husband and the food has always been outstanding. The atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for romantic evenings out and the staff make you feel at home, allowing you to take the evening at your own pace. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. Our most recent experience cost around £85 for three courses with a glass of wine each.
First time visiting why? and was so very impressed. Varied menu although it was fortunate we had no vegetarians and reasonable wine list to accompany. Knowledgeable waitress, very pleasant, listened and advised. Changed wine without fuss when it didn't suit. Portions very generous, attention from staff sufficient ant too much. Topped off with live piano and the views. Outfits, but definitely not our last, visit.
First time here using the private room was absolutely lovely for a large party. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed the food, drink and atmosphere. Staff were accomodating and lovely. Second visit again large party, food was lovely, as was our evening, only issue experienced was with bees and other random moth type insects flying around the room which interfered with the enjoyment. One landed on top of the lamb but was changed by staff without any issue. They did take on board advice to get it checked for possible nest etc as one individual in party got stung during the meal. That having been said it wasn't ideal, but as we had such a great time on first visit and made the most of second I would still recommend and would return again as a large party.
Like the fact tables are not so close that you end up feeling you are dinning with others. Good choice and friendly helpful staff. Not rushed and views pretty especially at night. Enjoyed our food and experience. Price reflects the quality of food. For a special occasion or couples date night. Toilets need a face lift.
We visited here with our sons as a treat for my husband. My husband and I have been here before, but it was the first time for our sons. The food was excellent and they also cater for Vegetarians as one of our sons is one. The staff are very attentive and the service is excellent, the setting is really relaxed, and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening we spent there
Above average food with silly high prices and poor service. A few of us ordered the shoulder of lamb which basically turned out to be shredded shoulder mixed up with some bits and turned into a giant meatball. It was fairly tasty but no better than we can make at home ourselves. The tiny thumb sized piece of rump on the side was pointless. This giant meatball and "lamb thumb" cost £25, sides are extra. Another member of our group had to send their duck back as it was overcooked despite the menu saying it would be served pink. Somebody else wanted the mixed grill and wanted something changed but this high end restaurant determined that this wasn't possible so they ended up with the lamb meatball. We asked if the bill could be split between the two different parties at the table. Again we were told this wasn't possible and that we would "have to get our calculators out at the end". From a supposed high end restaurant? Really? Finally the deserts were tasty and reasonably priced although the service was slow and one of our party's bread and butter was burnt. She sent it back but because we had passed the magic cut off time 21:30 the kitchen was closed and already switched off so she couldn't be given a replacement and had it taken off the bill. If it was more reasonably priced and more casual I'd say go along and enjoy it like one might enjoy a Beefeater or Harvester as an average casual diner but as it is it's over priced, has average food and you'll get better service in a chain family restaurant.
Not even worth a 1 star. The food was below average and overpriced £140 a couple. They had music on, which on the face of it sounded a great idea because there was a group of us, but it was the sound which was the problem. It was soooo loud none of us could hear each other speak. Two other tables were complaining and people were going outside to chat to each other. I spoke to the male owner and he simply said "well you shouldn't have come here then" - apparently other customers had the same response from him. Won't be returning. After 3 hours we had enough and ordered our taxi's early, a waste of over £600 for our lot.
