Lovely little place only an hour past Carlisle, quiet, friendly, big old castle, plenty of tea and coffee shops. Working harbour for fishing vessels, not full of yachts but very nice for couple of hours on a summers day.
This is still a working harbour where scallops and other shellfish are unloaded from commercial fishing boats. There was not much going on when I was there but I had an enjoyable stroll along the wharf. Lovely views and a pleasant little garden and picnic area near the Harbour Square. There's a large free car park and free toilets. It's only a couple of minutes walk into the town centre with its art galleries and quaint little cottages.

Beautiful place and so friendly..eating out is great anywhere 10 out of 10
