I'd rate this restaurant 3.5 stars based on my first visit. This casual little sushi restuarant offers the most variety when compared to other sushi restuarants within The Junction. My friend and I were in the area and decided to give this place a try. It was around 5:45 pm when we entered, and aside from a couple of customers who were waiting for their takeout orders, the restaurant was empty given how early it was for dinner, so we got to sit anywhere we like. The menu had "premium" A La Carte options that are not offered at the standard sushi restaurants in the area such as Bluefin Tuna and Aka ebi. The a la carte sushi ordered were good, and the small Maki tray we ordered was okay... The cucumbers within the rolls didn't taste very fresh in my opinion. The restaurant also doesn't seem to have Japanese tea or hot water readily available, so there is a bit of a wait for them to boil water if you want tea. However, all tables have a water carafe ready for drinking. The staff here was friendly, but the service was super slow as they were more focused on fulfilling their online orders.
I used to really enjoy this place, but their quality and attention to detail seems to have really dropped off. I usually can’t be bothered to leave a bad review but nearly everything about my last order was subpar. They really don’t care. Just look at these sloppy rolls it’s a bit laughable lol. Giving 2 stars because my last experiences were better and hoping they can improve their quality.
Thanks so much for the amazing Omakase. This is an off menu item, but if you put yourself in the very capable hands of the Chef at Kiri, you will be blown away. The freshest ingredients with the most painstakingly elegant preparation. This hidden off the menu chef tasting is truly a WOW at an unbeatable price. Thank you Chef! Here are only a few pics of the many generous servings we remembered to take.
I had an amazing time here. I came in for a quick dinner, the prices were really good and the service was nice and friendly. The best thing was the quality of the rolls and the sashimi. Portions were also very big ! I will definitely be coming back, thank youFood: 5/5
The best vegetarian sushi I’ve tried in Toronto, he makes it fast and makes it look really nice, I will definitely be coming back here!Food: 5/5
I’ve been ordering from this place for the past couple of years and it’s been serviceable for the most part. I’ve ordered the same items every time so it’s easy to notice when things change or if the quality slips. I paid $10.99 + tax for this. The portion has been halved. It was cold, flavourless and super greasy. I bit into it and felt the oil squeeze out like as it from a sponge.
Ordered a large sushi platter to be picked up the next day. It was ready on time, but the quality of the sushi was poor. The shrimp was limp and soggy, also the salmon and tuna were not fresh. The entire platter had a funny smell as if it had been sitting unrefrigerated for many hours. Otherwise the service was fine. Will not return.
The junction is growing nicely and lots of good eats but I am still in search of a great sushi place. Got soft shell crab and salmon lover. I found it ok. Not as fresh as I had hoped based on reviews but not bad. Food took really fast maybe too fast and that scares me that it’s Might give them another try as during Covid19, it’s tough on everyone. But overall, it’s ok. Worth giving them a try
After I being a regular client, I decided no more after have a problem my order. I tried to explain politely inbox and when I back to talk person to person... I felt bad, like a liar I explained again, I show the picture tuna was awful, other color and definitely other taste, it's a raw fish you must to be cautious and the person at desk offer me the same quantity I threw garbage... Ok, fair enough but not the same deal by inbox. Then invited take a sit meanwhile they do my roll and again ask for picture, explanation, etc. And ask for back 10 minutes later because they have other orders. So, I decided better wrote my complaint here and maybe be useful for other person. Kiri was a amazing place for Japanese food until now obviously for me.
I was very happy to find out that they had scallops, sea bream and sea bass included in their regular sashimi combo. All the fish were fresh and the presentation was beautiful. Will definitely be back!
