What a beautiful hidden gem of a place, great if you are a fan of not just history but the Tudor period also. While a lot of it is ruins, there are still some areas that have been well preserved. Lots of interesting information boards plus you can get the audio tour. It is an English heritage site so members can enter free with a card. The prices in general though are very good. There are toilets on site and a little area for taking a picnic. Added bonus are the peacocks wandering around. There is a little gift shop on entry for getting into the grounds. Parking is available, a small car park is about a 5 minute walk. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, highly recommended a visit.
Such a great place to while away a few hours. You can wander the grounds and beautifully manicured gardens, as well as learning about the history of the estate throughout the centuries. There is an optional audio guide available at the help centre, but we just read the information stands. These were educational but interesting too, covering everything from the owners, to the decor and even the fashions of each era. Oh and there are peacocks!
Lovely building even though parts are in a ruin state you can see how magnificent it must have been. Some rooms have survived & gives you an indication as to what it must have looked like.Beautiful gardens also. A pleasant couple of hours spent here. Doesn't seem a problem to bring a picnic & sit of lawned area to side of gardens. There are some additional benches set off to one side near the entrance.
Lovely trip here. We spent around 1 hour to 1.5 hours here. We had taken our 3 year old son here, who was very happy to be greeted by the staff. We enjoyed exploring each room and just reading on the history behind Kirby Hall. The garden, even in the crisp winter days is still beautiful and lovely to walk through. The peacocks were not shy at all and we managed to get very close to them which pleased my son.
The place was really quiet, and generally felt like you had the place to look around yourself. It was a lovely day which made it feel quite grand and had time to notice more details around. Free parking, and a little shop / toilets on-site. I do feel the place would benefit a lot more with a cafe on site on attract more peopleVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Wonderful place. Not crowded, you can explore and feel like you/your group are the only people there. It's a ruin, there are some information boards and you can collect an audio guide. Take a picnic and enjoy a few hours of peace and tranquility.
This place is stunning. Was a great visit and really is worth a visit. I would def visit again. Hall and Gardens are amazing. Make sure you walk whole way round house and gardens as you will miss some fab bits
Prancing peacocks and regal ruins. An Elizabethan mansion is at the heart of Kirby hall which is well preserved and brought to life with an audio tour. The tour has recently been upgraded with some new props and explanation around the house. The gardens and sculptures are lovely and make a good backdrop to a selfie or two. All owned by English heritage with members going free and a good sized free car park.
A lovely place to visit for an hour or so. Although the main building is in ruins, it still retains a charm harking back to when it was in its full splendor. The grounds make it a perfect place for a picnic.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Such a gorgeous location. We've been here on Friday, so probably that's why no crowds luckily. Feels great to be almost alone in the whole Hall and they are have picnic tables outside
