Lots of negative views of Kingsway in recent times. Some justified imo.nnHowever, personally I needed to see a doctor for a muscular issue, and after 20 minutes of trying on the phone, on a Monday morning, of all days, I managed to get through and get an appointment, the same morning.nnVery swift and no issues for me. Staff polite and receptive both on the phone, and upon arrival at the surgery too.nnNever had an issue here.nnPerhaps things have improved.
My partner was told today to bring a urine sample in for the doctor to dip and was told he cannot obtain a pot from the surgery as they did not supply these to patients anymore. He was told any container would do and to drop it in before 4pm.nnHe chose a thoroughly washed out bottle which was labelled with his details which was already embarrassing enough, to not be told by reception when he brought this in that it would not be suitable. The receptionist took it and stated to put it in the basket and that he would receive a call with results.nnHe then got a call after he had left to say that the bottle was not suitable as it could be contaminated and to come into the surgery to collect a bottle from reception. When he questioned this, the lady stated she didn’t know why the other had said that and that he could collect one from the surgery or the chemist. He was then questioned 3 times as to why he couldn’t return immediately as he should “still be in the area”.nnThis has caused my partner to suffer with a UTI for another day due to a severe lack of communication between departments as to what they do and don’t supply as a service. The rudeness that was received as to why he couldn’t return immediately was not appreciated either.nnI have tried contacting the surgery to go through their complaints procedure, by phoning the practice manager to be told that they were no longer in for the day and to call back tomorrow.
I simply want to say a massive thank you to the reception team and Doctors supporting my family through an extremely stressful and a completely anxious time!nMy experience of the reception team is always professional, and caring and I have to speak to the surgery several times a month! Sometimes a few times a day! They always try to help in any way they can, in a completely caring and officiant manner.nmy experience is they genuinely care and have empathy for all the patients. It’s not an easy job and they are always so busy. I wish I could name them all.nAnd say thank you.nnI want to say In particular a thank you to Dr Dev and Dr Matthews for always going above and beyond with genuine care, compassion and integrity In dealing with myself and my family’s health issues, they really have gone above and beyond.nnHuge thank you from thenAlexander and Bird family
The surgical journey has been incredibly challenging. Each attempt to schedule appointments is met with obstacles, leaving me feeling frustrated and disheartened by the lack of empathy from the staff. Their rudeness only adds to the discomfort and sense of unwelcomeness I experience during each interaction. To compound matters, there have been instances of misdiagnosis and mishandling of paperwork, leading to the loss of crucial referrals. Now, I'm left facing another six months of waiting for a referral, amplifying the stress and uncertainty of my situation.nnIt would be nice if the surgery could resolve this with me, so this comment isn’t just here to humour other people in the same situation…
I am new to the surgery and have had to contact them numerous times for my 4 month old baby, every time I call I have to wait a minimum of 40 minutes to get through on the phone - only to be told to call back at 8am to get a same day appointment as it’s not possible to pre book an appointment before three months time! I call back at 8am only to be told the call queue is full - so both my husband and I call on repeat for 40 mins before either of us can get through and then we are number 16 in the queue… and have to wait for minimum again of 40 mins to an hour!!! I am on maternity leave so currently have the time; but how does one wait for this long when they have to work!!! I just moved from central London and never had this issue with my doctor’s surgery there! When I finally got an appointment the Doctor was lovely - and I cannot fault the doctor, however the receptionist that called me back to book the appointment was very short and quite annoyed that I couldn’t get there in 20 minutes time! I am currently on hold now, I joined as number 12 in the queue and 37 mins later I am number 6!!! I am truly shocked at the level of service - I have wasted hours on the phone to them and am worried if I never need to see a doctor urgently, this is why A&Es are flooded with patients that can’t get seen by their GPs.
