Google maps took us along a private road which we could walk along, to a private farm which forbade access. Dog had to go on lead past a cottage as there was loose livestock and signage. Couldn't see how to get up to kings seat without going across private land, unless you walked over hills from dollar direction.
Bit of a windy day, however an excellent walk up through Dollar to Campbell Castle then across the 6 high spots all with their own amazing view. The snow made the going slightly tougher. Also recommend OS Explorer 366 for nav. Parking available from castle road and a lovely little bakery to grab yourself a pastry before you go.
There are many kings' seats around scotland and this one has some great views all the way to the forth and back to the lomond hills as well as dollar and a big castle standing over a Jurassic gorge....not bad for an afternoon's walk....
Wanted to mark Ben Cleuch and Ben ever but not possible! Anyway we had a fantastic ramble up and got lucky with the weather!
Beauteous frosty day. Straightforward paths but do bring map and compass and beware of sudden weather changes!
Dollar to Tilicoultry via king's seat, Very good walk
You can typically approach the hill from either Dollar Glen or Tillicoultry and can be done as a circular walk. The ascent is a steady climb for about 600m from either the car park below Castle Campbell or Upper Mill Street in Tillicoultry. The views South East take in the Forth Estuary and the 3 bridges on to Edinburgh and Arthur's Seat. The route can get biggy so good boots would be best if you intend to do the full circular and allow 6+ hours depending on ability.
Nice place, good view. It took me about 1h and a half from dollar and 1h to get down the same way.
Great view, a little steep and slippy at places but overall amazing!
A great walk with what should have been wonderful views. Shame it decided to be wet and windy the day we were there.
