For a pub in the very centre of town you would expect a fairly busy environment. As I sit here surrrounded by a eccentric mix of 3 people I find myself furiously angry. After a burger and a pint for £9 on a live football deal (will come back to) I ordered a large Pepsi... now, I understand there may be a new tax and such, but to charge £3.30 for a pint of Pepsi when the entire population knows a 2litre bottle costs on a good day £1 is disgusting. Sat looking at torn wallpaper, dated decor, and approximately 50 empty seats the owners should have a serious rethink as to what this establishment is. The burger was slightly burnt but ok, and the chips weren’t too bad. But again, a pint of Coors, burger and chips £9... one Pepsi £3.30!

After booking a table for 10, I had expected the food to come out together, but No, 6 received their food while the remaining 4 had to wait another 15 mins before the food came out, in fact it took so long that most of the first 6 had finished their meal before the last 4 got their's!!...so that's the service (the excuse was they only had 1 chef in, but they knew we were coming!!) The food wasn't the best, some of the scampi was empty of scampi!! The chips were dry and the peas cold! So all in all not very pleased with the service or food...such a shame as the kings arms has been a fantastic place to eat in the past (few years ago!!)

The website does not reflect the rooms. There are rooms that look like the website, but there are many rooms who need an urgent update. We booked a twin room and we ended up with two single beds in the corners of the room -lenghtwise against the walls with a clothes cabinet in the middle. That is unacceptable. Parking should not be advertised, as there are only a couple of spaces available. The rooms are old and dreary and the bathroom needs updating. There is no grouting in the floor tiles, the grouting in the show looks dirty and so does the showerhead. Somehow the rooms only have one key. My husband had to go to a function and it left me in the room unable to get out as the key locks the front door, downstairs door and room door. I was afraid that if I had the key i would not hear the phone of my husband when he needed to come in, The beds sleep well and the linen is clean. The service is very unpersonal and the breakfast is bad and overcooked. I am only rating as high as I am as the bed was clean and the location is good. But no, I feel mislead and would not book here again. Somehow this honest review is not being posted on the review sites and that makes me very distrustful of reviews.

A relatively relaxing stay with very comfortable beds, although the room was a little cold. The breakfast was a delicious start to the day.
