The perfect venue for a wedding, we enjoyed a two night stay in this quiet, wonderful country club.. Staff were very friendly, customer focused and went above and beyond. The spacious rooms were perfect for accommodating many guests at any function. The views and ambiance were special and the rooms were all you would expect. The breakfasts were very enjoyable and the wedding food was remarkably refined. Whether looking for a venue for that special occasion or simply looking for an overnight stay that is relaxing and reviving, Kingfisher is perfect.
All told a good experience but dragged down by a variety of niggles. Arriving at the site doesn't instill confidence. The access road is in terrible condition and when turning the last corner you are faced with something resembling a strip motel in the USA. Check in was easy and the receptionist friendly and professional. The room was immaculate, good sized but stuffy and hot. All amenities were present and the view over the lake was pleasant. Dinner was where most issues were noted. Again All staff were very polite and friendly but the waiting standards were lacking. Staff carried 1 plate at a time or only 1-2 drinks on a tray. We were left waiting repeatedly from arrival to drinks to ordering and food delivery was painfully slow. I asked for a wet cloth after eating mussels but am still waiting. The waiter spilled a glass of wine over the table and us. Accidents happen and it was well handled but coupled with the other points, it wasn't a great experience. The manager was excellent in dealing with the mess and providing a free drink to replace the spill. Food was good in all cases. The oddest thing was the music choice. We were subjected to loud salsa music throughout the evening, which didn't fit with the venue or the tone. Even the outside seating had this noise fed out. Not bad but not great. Wouldn't hurry back.
My first visit how have I never been before? and I will definitely be back. Frequently! Delicious lunch, fabulous cocktails, excellent service, reasonably priced in a beautiful setting. What more could you ask?
The food was really good. The service how ever leaves a lot to be desired. Being local this was the ideal place for us to go and celebrate our friends birthday and as we had been before and enjoyed the food we thought we would Try again. Also we had seen that they have been trying hard to promote on Facebook. The meals and drinks came quickly however that was the last I interaction we had until nearly 1hour and a half later when we had to eventually ask for another drink and the desert menu . Our table was cleared and we were left again. Eventually the bar mgr came over and we expressed our concerns he gave us the excuse that they were busy , that was not the case there was hardly anyone in there . The waiter and waitress seemed to have to wait to be told what to do although they were very nice and polite if they are too young to make the drinks then maybe they should have been serving more leaving the mgr free to make them . When he came back he had given us a round of drinks for free and we got our deserts free aswell and he was apologetic this time. It was a nice gesture but surely giving us better customer service will not cost the company so much money as I see from a previous review they also got free drinks. This could be a great place for the locals but they need to get more staff or use the ones they have more efficiently
Really impressed with the hotel it has a very nice atmosphere like home, booked a night as we were travelling further, the service from start to finish is really great the staff are very friendly, customer service is excellent, the breakfast menu is very good with a lot if choice, would definitely be back but would stay more than 1 night.
Booked the country club as we were attending a gig in the city centre and wanted something a bit nicer than your average Travelodge. We were so impressed. I wished we'd had more time to stay and enjoy the facilities. It was a beautifully sunny day and as my first night away from the kids in a long time, it was pure bliss sat in the garden around the back with a great choice of relaxing music. I didn't want to leave. The room was absolutely gorgeous and so clean. Everything was to a very high standard. Only issue being that the walls are quite thin and we were woken by the sound of next door in the morning typical, the one night I forget my ear plugs. But I would definitely return if we were in the area again.
Great service very clean and comfortable staff very professional and friendly. Would stay againRooms: 5/5
We booked our wedding early this year for the 25th June 2022. The Kingfisher venue is a fantastic setting for anyone’s special day. The lake and grounds provide a stunning backdrop and the pagoda the perfect place to declare your vowels. Getting married outside was always our intention, the sun came out and Kingfisher accommodated us with external set up of chairs and audio for the music. The bar and conservatory areas are simply stunning with modern fresh décor and a place where your guests will feel truly at home. The main function room can be dressed up and provide a fabulous space for the wedding breakfast and evening reception to take place. We felt totally at ease with team at Kingfisher, holding our hand every step of the way. Kas and her team worked so hard on the day to make sure everything ran smoothly for us. The service for the wedding breakfast and bar was exemplary and all staff attentive and courteous. The food was of exceptional quality, and you will get to do a taster session with the team prior to your big day to allow you to make your selections. The Kingfisher also has the added benefit of 28 modern and clean rooms on site for your guests, plus a beautiful bridal suite, which is included in the deal for your special day. We can highly recommend the Kingfisher as the venue for your wedding day, and we take this opportunity to write this review and say a huge thank you to the Kingfisher team, for all that they did for us, our family and friends and making it a day we’ll never forget...!
