Danger - be warned - please read. Local thiefs targeting this car park But be warned - cars are currently being broken into across Windsor Jan 2023 They are targeting cars with back packs etc. we were taking friends to the castle on the way to Heathrow airport. My car got broken into and 2 back packs stolen. This is in a very busy car park with CCTV. The police turned up 30 mins after we reported the crime! Apart from the car theft this is a great location! 10 mins walk to the town and the castle. It’s gets very busy at school pick up and drop off times, as it near to Castle School. You can pay on ringo. The only confusing thing is that there are signs saying you can only stop for 4 hrs max but the signage near the pay station stare rates above the 4hrs. Ringo also charge you £10 for the full day but if you stop as say 4hrs you only pay for 4 hrs. We parked the car facing the road, which according to the police is in a cctv black spot. So park your car facing the fence. It’s safer and covered by cctv. We were able to trace the backpacks to Atherton Court, Brocas Street, Eton - so the thieves are very local. I would advise paying on Ringo and downloading the app before you travel to avoid wasting time.
I read all the reviews of the car parks in this area they weren't great! Before settling on this one as it was the only one that had 4 stars Parking fees are affordable and more than reasonable compared to the other car parks. I used the RingGo app which I also think is great because you can start and stop your parking. There's no guessing involved. The car park isn't huge and I imagine it gets full quickly in the summer months. The parking spaces are tight. I didn't feel this too much as there were enough spaces for me not to have to park between cars. The walk to the castle isn't long at all, it says 10 minutes on maps but it doesn’t feel like it all. And the vistor entrance is at the top of the hill. I've used River Street car park when we went to pay our respects when Prince Philip died. It was the closest and most convenient car park at the time. I didn't have any problems with it then. and honestly can't remember how much it cost. I don't think I'm saying anything different to the other reviewers here but wanted to write down my experience too.
This is quite a bit of a walk from Windsor Castle. And there is no shuttle bus as mentioned on the website . Parking is via Ringo app which is based on the new app version. Long stay is towards the right
Cost £10 for the full day payable using the super easy Ring-Go app. A little pricey but very easy access to the town and the castle. We arrived at 10:00 on a Saturday and the car park was about 1/3 full. Left at 14:00 and car park was pretty much full.
A short walk ,train station town and the castel, we paid £11 for 4hrs parking in the long stay part
Our car back window was smashed and our rucksacks were stolen. Be aware! Don’t leave anything in view. Otherwise great location for 4 hour parking to the castle. Incident occurred at noon on a Monday on January:
We initially parked at Legoland on the outskirts of Windsor expecting it to be a park and ride, but only found irregular bus services. So I would recommend parking in King Edward VII car park where there is a park and ride service, wouldn't recommend using the car parks in the centre as Windsor obviously gets very congested. Just one thing to remember a part of the car park is short time only It is also a Ringo car park , to save time , I would download the Ringo app car make and registration needed as well as card payment details. Each car park has a unique code which the app will recognise
A good journey with s straightforward route
Reasonable priced spacious car park, 10min walk from the castle. What we didn’t enjoy was the fact that the machines didn’t accept card payments - they were probably broken and the only way was either cash or another application on your phone..
Good parking that is really close to the castle, really good prices, you can pay with card, coins or contactless. A lot of spaces, we arrived around 11.30 and it was half empty, one major disadvantage is the parking spaces are tight, some t#@t scratched my door handle despite me being in the lines. I would recommend buying a ticket max up to 4 hours when visiting the castle.
