This was a last minute booking. Turned out to be a very restful, peaceful break. The grounds are well maintained and a great setting with the "big house" in the middle. Modern reception building with swimming pool, saunas and gym. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was close to the Bistro used for breakfasts, lunches and dinner. Good choices on the menu. We used the special menu of the day on both nights we stayed. Best steaks we have had for a long time, cooked to perfection. Very attentive serving staff and barman. Won't be long before we are back again.
Friendly staff. Amazing estate but dated furnishings etc in accommodation. Average pub/bar - food nothing special but good service. AMAZING facilities - pool block was clean, tennis courts great rackets and balls provided and lovely grounds to go for a jog in! Loads of bunnies Also great that they had an electric car charger and a helpful maintenance person to assist when it locked our charger in when we wanted to leave
Beautiful place but our villa was definitely in need of an upgrade. Very dated and scruffy and carpets could do with either replacement or a very deep clean. The kids organised activities were non existent but the pool, table tennis and putting were enjoyable. Decided not to eat as the restaurant itself didn’t impress. More like a cafe with high end prices. However, we had a wonderful family break and if we could get a different villa would return.
Although our suite was lovely, the bathroom scheme was very dated. Bath had not been cleaned properly, so did not use. Staff were great and it's a stunning location with great amenities.Rooms: 3/5
Lovely spacious lodge for family gathering, lots of outdoor space for walking in the grounds and into Elie only 2.5 miles away. Great meal in restaurant, very attentive chef who came to discuss allergens with us, waitresses ever so efficient and friendlyRooms: 5/5
Had an incredible trek for my wee girl at very short notice. The team could not have been more accommodating a immediately put Isla at ease on her third ever trek. Robert chatted away to her the whole way round and turned a very damp Sunday afternoon into one she’ll never forget. Just a great team to work with, and they went over and above to look after us. Can’t recommend highly enough!!!
All facilities available for own cottage style rented bungalows. Kids areas in old walled garden, horse riding, putting, pool and wedding tented area etc etc Walking trails near historic village of Kilconquhar and Elie beaches
Disappointed with stay, left after one night. Stayed in castle villa 5, it was freezing, had to sit all night with coat on, although there a several heaters in these rooms they are not sufficient to heat rooms of this size, the two open wall turrets did not help. Asked for a move to a smaller villa, said there were none available, so no option but to pack up and go home. We have visited here for over 30 years and expected a better service than this. On a positive I gave 1 star because the staff in reception were very nice and understood our dilemma.
We stayed in a standard double room which is situated at the back of the restaurant. You cannot leave the door open because all the air from the kitchen directly blew into the direction of or window. Also there was a bunch of hair in the shower.
A lovely country castle / estate for an overnight stop, granted it's cold and wet for winter. Our ensuite room was in the castle basement not very well signposted, so we went the wrong way at first, and it was nice and cosy. Everyone was friendly and helpful, breakfast was superb, and our only complaints were 1 the WiFi was often hit and miss, and 2 no grab handle on the wall of the shower, which I'm sure not just other disabled guests like me would benefit from. 3 the sink's mirror light didn't work. We hope to visit again, though perhaps only off-season when more affordable.
