Really smooth walk up and around the edge of the island to the Tea Garden and Bunkhouse, slightly disappointed to find out we don't go into the teas house as it's someone's home. The soup and cakes we had were delicious though, and thankfully it was a decent enough day to sit outside and admire the stunning views before heading along to the old castle ruin and rugged coastline.
This was a lovely stop on a trail run for us. The owner was so friendly and the service was very quick. We loved the brie bagel—half inch wide Brie slices !! The fudge brownie was perfect as well. The weather was perfect and it all felt very dreamy. Definitely would recommend! Takes both cash and card! Good to have cash on you however for other stops on the island.
Karrera did not disappoint! The walk to this lovely spot is well worth it. The owner couldn't be any nicer. We had the bagel with brie and chilli jam and of course we had to try one of each cake! Sat outside in the sun enjoy the fantastic views. Glad there was an outside toilet aswell. Just around the corner is the castle
The island is deffo worth visiting! after the walk we came here for a breakfast had a blueberry muffin which was nice, the people were lovely too! And the view to the castle was the best. Only comment is it would be great to have more few options for snacks/options.
Highly recommend the 5 min sailing to kerrera from oban and the lovely walk to get to the tea garden. We had a lovely lunch of bagels and soups and the lemon drizzle cake was so tasty. Beautiful wee island, look forward to visiting again and seeing more.
Nice cafe, in a strategic position if you are going to the castle. The walk is long so it is a perfect place to stop before and/or after the visit to the nearby castle. Food is fine, okay priced and with a great view over the bay. The order system is a bit weird and a bit over complicated, but in the end the owners are nice people. They also dotted the road with funny signs to let you go there, a fun touch.
Such a lovely little isolated spot. Great for lunch after visiting the castle. Service and food were great. I went on a warm sunny day so I got a cold drink but I imagine popping in for some tea and cakes would be just as comforting on a rainy day! Note: I had read they only accept cash so I went fully prepared, but they were accepting both card and cash as of July 2021.
Just perfect to have some hot soup or a tea with muffin after 3 hours hiking in the rain! Just take into account that there are just 2 tables inside the tent, all others are outside. Also, super clean toilet on a hike is also a blessing.
A very tasty reward after a lovely little walk. The location is perfect, situated on one of the main walking routes of the island; and is signposted throughout to let you know you're nearly there. The rubarb and custard cake is the tastiest I've ever had in my life, tasted like the rubarb was cut, cleaned and baked into the cake that same day! Tasty stuff indeed, especially the brie bagel! Will definitely visit again. Vegetarian options: Multiple vegetarian options available. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly staff, family run, with a lovely mini play park and slide for the little ones.
Tepid soup and grumpy serving staff, not a great deal of overhead cover if its raining, having said that the island is 5 star and well worth the visit for the stunning scenery
