Awful service from start to finish. Slow from the get go, the chap with a hat didn’t check the car over properly so I had to go back twice to add missing scratches and bumps all over the car. I then drove he car about and it was very smooth and easy to drive - I am used to driving bigger vehicles, but even so this was one of the easiest. Returning the vehicle the Chaps started noticing all those bumps and scrapes they hadn’t previously and told me they weren’t there before. I will return on Friday to speak to the manager so we can check the CCTV in hope that this will prove the marks on the car. Not amused at all as I feel like I’m abroad where they con you into the lumps and bumps that weren’t yours. I’ve only driven on the motor way, so how marks on the roof have suddenly appeared is not down to anything I’ve done. Hopefully I will be able to resolve this and take this post down but I certainly will never hire from the Ash branch ever again. Guildford however run a very professional service and I will go back there, having hired from there only last week. AVOID THE ASH BRANCH AT ALL COSTS.

I would like to thank Matt and his colleague at Kingston branch also Luke at the Ash branch plus Simon White from their claims department . My car was damaged by one of Kendall vans whilst being driven by a customer who then drove off!. Kendall went beyond the call of duty to put things right in challenging circumstances. My car though in good condition was an aging 4x4 jeep and would have been written off had it not been for the understanding and support of the entire team . I was kept informed regularly by both Luke and Simon who also loan a car to me whilst there work shop fixed the damage. I would like to thank those in the workshop also for the great professional job they did . I have used Kendall hire in the past and will continue to do so . But will also be recommending them to all as a fair l and moral team of good people . Regards Roger Billinghurst Kingston

Having used kendals off and on for years now they have gone from a wonderful family company to a corporate nightmare. They do not seem to care about customers now it seems to just be about money. They may claim to be the cheapest in the south but that has come at the expense of customer care. First of all they are totally inflexible to the customers requirements and where they are flexible it's all about a charge for this or a charge for that. Having rented vans and cars for years I am totally aware of mileage charges etc and that is not the concern. This issue is picking up the night before. I asked that if the car was ready the night before can I pick it up just before closing and the answer given was, "yes if the car is available you can pick it up but there is a charge for that". Most other companies see this as a win win as g force once said, "if it's in you can have it, it means my morning customers have to wait less time". So I decide to pick the car up the next morning and expect them to be ready for me, first of all they didn't find my info immediately, secondly they spelt my name wrong and thirdly the whole process of renting took about 40 minutes door to door and I only live 5 mins walk away. When I pointed out that the information was incorrect on the document the lady just said it would be fine to sign, I queried this and stated that this would cause insurance issues and shouldn't it need to be reprinted? Rather than making the decision herself she then referred it to another member of staff who then advised that she had best reprint the contract. Some training issues maybe? Finally after returning the car my wife informs me that they have actually taken the £200 deposit rather than earmarking the amount like other companies would. So we are now £200 down for a total of 5 days approximately. If that is their policy fair enough, but the fact they never make this clear on their website or at point of rental I find offensive. To add insult to injury the man I spoke to today admitted that it is normal rental practice to earmark and not take the money, he said he has experienced that with other rental companies he has used but kendals policies differ, which is Fine but inform me of that please! I will no longer be using kendals, I am not a big customer so will they care? A good family company will, a corporate monster won't! Let's wait and see. NOTE: I have just reported this to the consumer helpline and it transpires that taking this £200 under false pretenses, i'e not explaining that they were actually taking the money rather than earmarking it as is common rental practice while not making it clear to me that the money will actually be deducted from my account, is actually a criminal offence.
