Nice food and great service but £25 per head in December banquet and usually £19.95 You have to have minimum of 2 so it's now £50 and your asked for a 10% service charge so costs £55 for a couple. We had 2 coco cola at £3.50 each so pricey. Don't get me wrong though food was spot on and service real good but would think twice about going back due to price
We went as a party of 8 mixed family, including elderly parents, and arrived at 6.30 on a Wednesday so the restaurant was quiet, which suited our party well. To save everyone making individual choices we mixed up some ideas from the take away set menu choices with a few individual requests, and with some superb advice from the waiter about quantities we all enjoyed a wonderful selection of starters and main dishes. Every dish was delicious, and we particularly commented on the sticky ribs & seaweed wonderfully enhanced with garlic... Yum yum!! But really everything was lovely. I think their restaurant menu would be enhanced by including set menu options particularly for groups. They currently have an all-you-can-eat price per head £22 I think but it involves ordering each individual dish you want rather than pre-prepared buffet widely available on Sundays elsewhere. The service was lovely, attentive & friendly yet discreet. All-in-all a very enjoyable experience that I would happily return for more!
My husband and I have been eating at the Kar Ling Kwong for over 30 years so you might expect this to be an excellent review. Unfortunately it's not based on the appalling service we received as a party of 4 on 3rd February 2018`. The restaurant was busy, which we knew at the time we booked but our booking WAS taken so we should have expected there would be sufficient staff to cope. But, from the time we arrived at 7.30 the service for this 'eat as much as you like' buffet was practically non-existent. By 8.30 we had only just been given our starters, by 9 we had to call the waiter over to order the duck pancakes. Once finished our used plates were just left on the table. At the same time as we had ordered the duck we also ordered 4 main dishes which did not arrive until 9.45, too late to think about ordering anything else. At £21.95 per person this is the worst value meal we've ever had. The bill arrived and annoyingly had a service charge included - admittedly this had then been deducted with a note saying 'sincere apologies'. I complained at the time and was offered a free bottle of house wine to take away with me but since we had only been drinking beers and soft drinks this offer seemed incongruous to say the least. We were left thoroughly embarrassed as we had suggested the Kar Ling Kwong to our friends. I later wrote twice to the proprietor assuming I might receive an apology but was not even given the courtesy of a response. We are a large family of 10 adults who previously visited the restaurant often but have decided we will not be returning in the future as a restaurant which does not value its customers does not deserve their money. What a shame!
My family have been going to this restaurant for around 30 years, and the quality of the food and the service has always been amazing! We were very sad to discover that the restaurant will soon be closing its doors for good. Such a loss for Farnham.
Disappointing, during our last visit, we were shocked that the food portions had halved in size ,higher prices and generally poor quality food and was absolutely shocked at how much the decor had deteriorated I.e. mouldy damp walls with paint falling off. In our opinion a resteraunt of the standard this used to be should have far better decor and needs updating which seems long over due and seems they're trying to get more than their monies worth out of it. The son who seems to be running it could do with further customer relations training. All said and done after all the years we've attended this resteraunt we most certainly will not be returning as there are far better resteraunts locally which are putting the customers first with quality food at sensible prices and theyre still making a profit, if I were Kar Ling Kwong I would look at the big picture as these other resteraunts have many people dining regularly and at times have a full house which is good for business!
Excellent. Food simply first class last night. It is a shame that our waiter is returning to Nepal. He has always been so polite and interesting to talk to. He will be missed.
All you can eat for a set price, the beauty of it is that there is no buffet but the food is cooked to order so it is really flavoursome and fresh
Excellent food, authentic and service excellent very friendly and polite.
Staff are very friendly, this is our go to Chinese locally and they never get it wrong, food is always lovely and prepared quickly, very authentic and hidden outside of town. Definitely worth a visit.
Enjoyed our time there. The staff are really nice and the food was decent enough.
