My order for "The Story of Burnt Njal", translated from the Icelandic by Sir George W. Dasent in 1861, published by J.M.Dent (Everyman) 1910, arrived by post within 3 days. Excellent service! This very first translation of Njal is a treasure. It bristles with the translator's committed and lively reading of the original, and some poetic phrases are truly inspired. The little hardback is in almost mint condition. I feel like I'm the first owner to read it. I can't thank you enough for housing this antique book. Do you publish a list of the books that you hold at Waplington Hall? I Google mapped the site, but Waplington looks like a private residence; you can only see a tree-lined pathway!
