A warm welcome, a beautiful pub full of character and charm. Great selection of drinks, staff super nice and the crackling fire was great. I do not think the Sunday roast was worth £19.50 tho. Small portions and beef a little tough.
Food was excellent I had a rib eye steak cooked to perfection. Chips were good But no option for a steak sauce apart from butter such a shame hence 4 Toilets also need a bit of a clean & modernist Lovely little pub would definitely go back
I’ve eaten here a few times and love visiting when we visit. Friendly welcome and an instant community feel. I haven’t been lucky with food as on a visit in October I tried a fish dish and despite being full of flavour the portion was small and didn’t reflect the price I paid, I sat with food envy as I watched my friends devour the delicious beef roast. More recently I choose belly pork which was cold in the middle and more annoying the crackling was soft I Know… when you indulge with a pork roast I have pre conceived ideas because you want crackling to be crisp and delicious. On a positive, the roast potatoes are amazing and the gravy is perfect. I will return as it’s a great place.
Excellent Staff, great food, good choices o drinks, a must go pub! Being a Veggie, it was good to see options to chose from. Nut roast was excellent and would love to order it again on my next visit, probably on a bike ride! Pricing was a bit on a dearer side, may be something to look into? Overall, excellent experience.
Used to live in the village having grown up there. Visited from Cornwall. Chris & Amanda have/are doing a great job. The pub retains its sleepy Chiltern village charm, with a warm welcome , great beer selection and wonderful food.
Best Sunday roast in pub I've had. Substantial Portions, roast beef was actually rare. Chocolate brown was so rich, unbelievable. Excellent selection of local ales and super-friendly service
Excellent English pub serving freshly cooked food. Had the hit scotch egg to start, which was served with a line Maldon sea salt, and then a burger for the main cooked medium rare. Very fresh ingredients and friendly staff. There is parking at the back and a pavillion outside with tables. We are outside in the sun which was lovely. Will definitely visit again.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Friendly and polite staff, had a great afternoon here. The chicken pie is unbelievable!
THE CHIPS ARE HUGE! The service was very good they where very happy to tell us about the specials and the menu is a good size. It came out very quickly so excellent for a business lunch. The food is good quality and cooked to a good standard. I'm certain they have food award's if they do not I would be surprised. If you in the area and want stop off for a break. For four people the bill was £72.
