My husband and I popped in for a coffee and snack while we waited for our friend to arrive at the very near by train station. Not only was the location perfect but the service, atmosphere, and food all impeccable. It was the perfect little introduction to Frome! We’ll definitely be back.
The interior of the building is very impressive and feels warm and welcoming - being an old church helps. The large timber slab tables add to the grandeur of the building and the wholesome feel. We popped in for a tea and brownie - both of which were delicious. The brownie didn’t last long. The custom pottery is really pleasing although being served a hot drink in a cup without a handle was a bit daft! Especially as on the way out I noticed they had some with handles on other tables.
Will always support local but please review your boulangerie. Croissants and danish should not be like sponge cake inside.
Cinnamon buns make me happy and these ones make me the happiest! And now I've discovered the carrot cake the world is an even happier place.
Dropped by today, as we were catching the train to Bath, and bought a few pastry items to take with us. The pistachio croissants were totally awesome and the sausage rolls had proper meat in them with both taste and texture. The sizes of everything that came in the bags was exactly as the samples on show. I'm glad I don't live in Frome and commute to Bath for work every day, as i'd end up properly fat!
Walked there four times now and it's been closed when it says 'open' online. Very frustrating.
Great coffee, pastry items and locally sourced groceries - would love to give 5 stars but very often out of a product that is in high demand: The infamous almond croissant. Also be aware, not open on Mondays :
Really love bread but pretty awful service! As a fairly regular customer I have never once been offered a "hello, please or thankyou " and usually just get the price grunted at me ! Today to add to the surlyness the " server" actually checked in the small paper bag that barely contained my sourdough - presumably to make sure I wasn't stealing anything other than the declared loaf. VERY RUDE ! Seriously guys - some customer facing training is really badly needed
Bought a chocolate brownie. The one on display was large, about 3.5in square. I intended to share. Was advised it was £3, which seemed steep, even compared to overpriced Starbucks brownies at £1.75 but they are smaller. However, Rye Bakery didn't give me the one on display but grabbed one from below counter wrapped in a brown bag. It was much smaller, about 2.5in square. i.e. half the amount of the one on display. Regardless of quality, it is a ripoff to give half what is advertised. It tasted nice, but too much sugar in it. I prefer the cheaper Starbucks version, or even better Lidls version which is only 50p.
Yummy coffee and great pastries. Service a little slow and inefficient so leave extra time if you have a train to catch.
