If you want to see the working of the pottery then you need to check the dates of firing and open days. However when we visited the shop had a lovely art installation and a good selection of pottery displayed. It is pricey but there are smaller items which can be purchased at a reasonable cost. We were given the dates of the next firing and removal of stock so plan to visit then in order to see the potters working. Well worth a visit.
Such a South Somerset landmark and the kitchens in the surrounding villages are full of Muchelney Pottery Kitchenware. I have been very luck to watch a firing of the Kiln and equally lucky to own one of their incredible chicken bricks, a few different sized casserole pots and 2 tea pots. Cooking with Muchelney Pottery really does make a difference and as long as you are careful with it, the pieces will be with you for a lifetime!
Beautiful work. Beautiful people. My son-in-law is a huge fan of John Leach & Leach Pottery. We consider purchases from Leach to be personal investments that allow us to honor John Leach's legacy while supporting the future of John Leach Pottery.
Delightful experience - given an interesting and informative tour of the kiln with the added bonus of a free hot mulled cider. Bought some excellent pots. Love this place.
Sad that our long-time favourite potter, John Leach, has passed away at the age of 82. We have bought and used his pots for more than 4 decades, and it is sad that we will no longer be able to add to our beautiful works of creation by this gentle, humerous man. The pottery site itself I am will sure continue under his legacy, and our thoughts are with Lizzie his wife.
Visited this place along with some family friends. Some of the pottery was quite handsome, though certainly out of our price range. I enjoyed looking at the art, and I bought two postcards of the art. Some of us then went to sit down in the courtyard outside while a friend talked to one of the potters. Then, rather abruptly, the lady who'd served me in the shop leant out of the shop window and shouted at us, first at my friend asking her to leave the kiln shed, effectively stopping her speaking to the potter. She then continued to shout asking all of us to leave the courtyard for no apparent reason. I'm not sure but it may have been that the courtyard was private property, however the gate was open and none of us could see any signs indicating otherwise. All in all I thought the way she addressed us was completely unnecessary and quite simply rude.
My favourite kitchen ware and plant pots. Not cheap but amazingly durable and gorgeous. Always get complimented by my guests! I'm saving up for more
Fabulous designs of a range of decorative and practical items plus other local jewelry artwork and design items.
Beautiful pottery and great exhibitions. Each piece is unique and there is something to suit every budget if you are looking to own a piece of history.
I ordered a mug from John Leach's Muchelney Pottery, the mug arrived very promptly & very well packaged. I will definitely be shopping here again.
