"Die Brot-Revolution in Zürich: Bei John Baker gibt es noch richtig gutes Brot. Aus regionaler, ökologischer und saisonaler Bioware, aus Weizen von glücklichen Demeterfeldern, aus liebevoll gezüchteter Hefe. Traditionell gebacken in der Backstube von John Baker aka Jens Jung, wo das Team kein Team ist, sondern eine grosse Familie: Ein Familienbetrieb 2.0 sozusagen. Von der frisch angesetzten Hefe bis zum knusprigen Brot dauert es zwei Tage – und alle Produktionsschritte finden im eigenen Haus statt, verkauft wird frisch ab Ofen. Favorite bakery in Zuerich so far. Great olive bread with huge olives! Also very delicious pan au chocolate. Tried a croissant with seeds that is out of this world. Everything is very fresh. Usually a line. Needs to improve on customer service.
One of the best bakeries I’ve ever been too. The bread is so good and pure. And the staff is kind and tells you about their different breads. I tried one of their vegan sandwiches too… so so good!
I like this bakery. Not too big. Not too small. Not fancy but with good quality. I’d say it could be your “local fancy” quality bakery if you live in the area. Decent variety of all pastry, savoury, breads and coffees. Sometimes employees won’t be so helpful, mostly because there is so many people usually waiting in line which is understandable.
Cozy coffee shop with good variety of breads and pastries. I like the bank seats inside and the atmosphere. They also have outdoor tables for the sunny days. This bakery is famous for their breads. I tried the sweet pastries, also delicious. Good for people who like brunch, 8:00 until 15:00 on Sunday but better reserve your seats
Their vegan fruit breads früchtli brot are to die for! They manage to put entire dates, figs, and nuts inside these little morsels of deliciousness. Their cappuccinos and flat whites with oat milk are also an excellent accompaniment to the breads.
Best bakery in Zurich, in my opinion. Their tarte au citron is the best everrr! Same same but different for their pain au chocolat, olive buns and Zöpfli. People complain about the line—I don’t mind because it’s location is in a historic building, nicely designed and their staff has always been friendly. The line is simply proof for their deliciousness!
Love to stop by either in the morning On my way to work or early afternoon for a sunny walk snack. Hint: if you ask not to have a paper bag you’ll save the planet some garbage and yourself 20 or 30 cents. Croissant with seeds is a must ;
I love this place. The pastries are made right in front of you; they’re delicious. We had a pain au chocolat and this multi-grain croissant. Both were so fresh and delicious. Definitely recommended for people looking for fresh and delicious pastries.
The zopf is very delicious and their coffee is very tasty as well. But they do not have a lot if variety for breakfast, so it is mainly bread. Also the outdoor sitting area is very small.
Very nice experience eating here with a very fresh bakery and nice and friendly staff. The waiter was very kind to give us details of what we should and still we were a little late there but I they have some bakery left for us. Would recommend everyone to arrive early.
