One of, if not the best buffet style restaurant in the area. Four of us dined and there was plenty of choice for all of us. The dishes were cooked to perfection. You normally find with this style of restaurant that they can only cook one type of cuisine well but that is not the case here where they excel at Indian, Chinese and Mexican flavours. The ingredients are high quality, no sense of frozen product here. The meat in the dishes is quality too with decent chunks of none-fatty bone-free meat. Unlike the normal bone ridden meat you get at these style restaurants. The service was excellent, our waiter took the time to explain the layout and the choices and even took a photo of us and provided balloons for the birthday guest with no prior arrangement. The chef who worked on the cooked fresh to order points were helpful and skilled, probably the best fresh naan I have had outside India! The desert lives up to the rest of the courses. With a large choice of fresh fruit not canned cakes, and deserts as well as traditional Indian deserts. They also had a chef manned ice cream station where you could get your own ice cream mixed and a quality none-oily chocolate fountain to top it off. A pleasant change to the typical frozen cakes and tinned fruit you find at buffets. The price of the meal was higher than normal for a buffet restaurant in the area but the quality more than justified the cost. The one reason they have got 4 and not 5 stars was the cost of the drinks. All the drinks were really over priced, a bottled Cobra beer came in at £6 a bottle! If the restaurant needs to make back money through drink sales I would suggest it would be better to charge more for the meal in the first place and not course a heart attack with the drinks bill. Over all I will eat there again for sure but next time I will be taking more notice of the drinks menu.
First went here for my sister's birthday; it was new in Derby and everyone wanted to try it out. It looks great from the outside, really posh looking. Didn't like the fact it was joined onto the bus station though, as the outside is quite noisy and usually crammed full of everybody coming to and from Derby Town Center. I'm not going to lie, but the first time we went it was great. The staff was great, very polite and welcoming... I enjoyed the food although it could of been better. They even gave us a free bottle of water as well as our proper drinks. It was a really good experience, one that I obviously wouldn't find myself getting again. The second time I went to the restaurant was completely different and I don't think I really want to go again. The service was very poor; the staff was not polite at all, they was very rude towards us, snapped at us a few times and ignored us a few times. I understand that it's hard for them to listen to everybody, but to look right at us whilst just walking around doing nothing, they could at least come to us when we ask. The free bottle of water that we was given last time along with our drinks, came priced this time at £3.00; for water I think that's quite ridiculous to be fair. The food wasn't good, it was cold and there wasn't a variety like last time, most of the food I had the first time, wasn't cooked for the second time and the bars were near enough empty. I was told that it was an all you can eat buffet, except when my friend went to get some noodles she was told that she would have to have them on their own and not with the food already on her plate. I won't lie but the desserts were delicious, I don't think anyone could ever complain on the desserts. After all of that, we came to pay... we arrived around 1.30 o'clock and left just after 3.00 o'clock. The Lunch Buffet is always cheaper than the Dinner Buffet hence the reason we went at lunch time, but when we came to pay they charged us the same amount for the Dinner & not the lunch, because we was leaving after the official closing time. They didn't tell us this before, and we was left with no money for the rest of the day because we all had to chip in for each other's meals. All in all I think the desserts are good, but the rest of the food is poor. The service ranges from poor to fair. I'm starting to believe that the only reason they was nice to us the first time is because it was a newly opened restaurant and they wanted to make a good impression. The decor is beautiful though, and I wouldn't want them to change anything about it.
Experience at Jimmys in Derby was really good , few friends of mine have already recommended the place for a good food variety so finally last weekend we visited to Jimmys and after this visit my view about buffet restaurant has completely change. Most important point is food quality was good indian curries were authentic , chinese noodle on wok was cooked as per my taste, Mexican live counter was excellent and finally the female chefs on dessert counter were excellent especially ICE CREAM ON COLD PLATE. I could not try all the dishes but very impress with food quality and service standards and also drink menu is very balance and has good cocktails and mocktails. GOOD LUCK JIMMYS . SALEEM KHAN
Food: Is so tasty. Enjoyed the grilled chicken and pizza. My favourite item is the chicken tikka. Decor: Very modern, very big and relaxing. Service: Could be faster, but was still good for the price.
There is a great choice of food, I went on a tuesday night, and I think as it was a bit quiet, some food was slightly dry Sushi didn't compare well to Yo Sushi, but was on a par with M&S takeout Other more popular options such as Chinese and Thai were really good
Very poor basically an indian but says italian chinese went sunday poor choice only one type of pizza no pasta very little chinese no chinese starters kids were finding it hard to find something kept coming back with chips .There are alot better buffets in derby basically this one is a jack of all and a master of none. Also quality of meat was poor tried three different dishes of beef all tough Just looked on website advertises at least three types of pizza when asked for a ham and cheese told only margherita when i read website i think i must have gone to a different place
Terrible service, poor selection of food. Table next to us ordered their drinks after us and got them well before our table.
Nothing fancy about stuffing your face with as much food as you can. If however you just want to eat outrageous amounts of random food then this is for you.
Had a nice lunch with my wife. Would recommend anyone to try
the best thing i like the live cooking by the chefs.and the services given to the us.
