my dad and I attended the beef masterclass, and it was absolutely fantastic!! A great opportunity to learn more about such a great company, learn more about butchery from an expert, and give it a go in a safe but fun environment. Highly recommend giving the masterclasses a go - now we’ve tried beef we’ll be back for a different one!nWe’d love to say another thank you so much to James for being such a brilliant host and such a patient teacher - really made our experience special.
We bought some wagyu steaks for £100 which were ok quality.nAlso some vine tomatoes were very tasty.nWhen we got to the till and the cashier was scanning everything, I noticed the cheeses which had been freshly cut for us from the counter was mouldy which meant the entire wheel would have been mouldy luckily we saw that just in time and did not buy it.nWe also bought some oats for the kids which we didn’t notice till after we got home was out of date by two months.nI think the shop is charming but I would appreciate if they did not continue to sell out of date or mouldy food especially at full price. I think letting the customers know they are purchasing out of date produce should be a given.nOut of the items we bought, 10% was mouldy/ out of date.
Beautiful farm shop. Delicious food, particularly enjoyed their homemade pies. The butchery is really wonderful to see - not many places like it!nGreat selection of dry goods, deli, meat, fruit and veg. Friendly staff, easy to find, easy to park. What's not to like?!
Went in for a bit of lamb to slow cook for wraps, salad etc. Only had minted, everything was pre wrapped so de ided on 2 for £16 deal on 2 spatchcock chickens. No bread unfortunately but we did get that it was monday lunch. Butchers had no meat displayed either. We expected the chicken to me high quality for the price but unfortunately it was not good at all. The piri marinade was nice but cooked and rested as we would any other small spatchcock the chicken was tasteless and very dry. So dissappointing. Didnt even bother to keep leftovers. And regretting having another in fridge. The shop itself had good choices for jars and preserves etc all slightly pricey but ok for a farm shop and the lady who served us was lovely.
Had some amazing advice on cheese choice from the lady really knows her stuff! in control of the cheese section. Delice De Bourgogne my fave, and an amazing red lecester too, but each of the five we got were awesome. She’s an expert, and really helpful, and we’re not. We’re in Swindon and will be back very soon. Friday 25th October 2024, 11.45ish. Brilliant!
