Reviews

Trying to buy a house, no chain, should be straight forward. The seller is using Jefferies Solicitors, who have held the sale up for THREE MONTHS now. How is this acceptable? We will be homeless in less than two weeks because Jefferies cannot do what they're being paid for. My wife, three year old daughter and I will be without a roof over our head, but we cannot get any answers from anyone. The money is ready, the seller is ready to sign, as am I. It's a simple sale, so why the hold up?

Edited to add: just spoke with my solicitor and Jefferies Solicitors had demanded I take this review down. Why? My solicitor is waiting for information to proceed with the sale and Jefferies Solicitors is not providing that information. The information was requested over a month ago and Jefferies have been asked for this information repeatedly over that time, but failed to provide it. A month to find the answers to some straightforward questions is quite long enough, I think.

I will consider amending this review only when this sale is completed.

Victoria Scott is a credit to your company. She has assisted me greatly in a few cases for which I have required her urgent attention. She has worked efficently and with expertise and she has proven to be worth every penny. I would highly recommend this solicitor for any tenancy case. She is superb!

Highly professional, trustworthy and dependable service with a personal and friendly approach. I have used Jefferies Solicitors twice now, and only have good things to say about them. I have recommended them to family and friends a few times now, only to hear great feedback in all cases.

I used Jefferies Solicitors for a Transfer of Equity. A simple process where stress, effort and time frames should be minimal - they weren't. From the word go we found the staff very unprofessional and difficult to deal with. Getting in contact with the manager of our case was near on impossible and his many secretaries were incompetent with one member of staff even getting shirty with me when chasing them up - If you did your job properly, I wouldn't have to! We asked many questions that were unanswered - it seemed their staff had little knowledge of what a Transfer of Equity actually entailed. There were hidden charges they didn't inform us about from the outset. We wanted a specific clause put in the contract and had to ask on at least 5 occasions for this to be done. It seemed that because our procedure was (supposed to be) cheap comparatively with most solicitor cases, we were thrown on the back burner with the most junior of staff assigned to the case. There seemed to be no communication between the staff and we ended up running through the exact same things with various people. It was all topped off when we went in to sign the papers and the member of staff didn't instruct my partner to sign anything. It was left for me to say "Shouldn't my partner be signing something, it will be in her name too" to which she replied "Yeah, can do". 

The untold stress Jefferies bestowed upon me and my partner made the process extremely challenging and I would HIGHLY recommend you go elsewhere when choosing your solicitors.

My partner and I instructed Jefferies for a Transfer of Equity, which is a relatively simple process, however they managed to make it an incredibly lengthy and complicated one. We had to chase them up for days in a row, via email AND telephone, to get an answer to any questions and when we finally could get hold of them, they were unprofessional, blunt and rude. 

There seemed to be no communication between the many different staff members supposedly 'handling' our case, which resulted in there being numerous errors in emails. I was paying half of everything and yet I was hardly ever addressed or CC'd into emails. Along with this disorganised and disinterested attitude and sheer lack of communication,  there was no clarity and little detail or explanation about the actual process, so we were left in the dark about what was happening with our own Transfer of Equity. To top things off, there were hidden fees added, that they did not make us aware of until the final day of completion. 

They also took MONTHS to send us our documentation after the whole process had finished- and we had to chase this up weekly!

If you want to essentially end up doing the job yourselves, choose Jefferies- if not, stay WELL clear.
