Absolutely brilliant. Very interesting and atmospheric. Prisoners were held in appalling conditions, often before being banished to the America's for life for the most trivial crimes. Men, women and children were held here awaiting sentence. The worst part was the Bridewell correction block where prisoners were put to hard labour. Periodically now over the summer months there are night time gatherings of the paranormal nature. We just missed one but do plan to go back.

This is a really interesting museum.  Experience what it was like to be a prisoner in the mid 1800's.  Well worth an hour or two during your visit to Jedburgh.  And it's free entry!  Make a day of it and visit Mary Queen of Scots House.

Great few hours out, very helpful staff and very interesting site...donations only too so no excuse not to go.
