Absolutely fantastic place to visit! We visited during Wizards week so there were lots of characters wandering around doing magic tricks and interacting with the kids. The story barn is huge and has loads of interactive displays. There is a play park and a cafe selling hot food next to it. A further small cafe selling hot drinks and cake can be found in one of the barns. The train journey takes approx 1 hour in total but you can easily spend 3-4 hours here or more if you look at all the displays, our kids were too excited by the wizards and witches and broom making Overall we had a great day here and would recommend a trip here.
A well preserved steam railway. A very enjoyable time spent travelling on the train, visiting the train story exhibits and workshop. Staff there are very friendly and enthusiastic who are more than willing to impart information. There are two cafes, a small museum and shop. Myself and Son went on a standard week day with the one locomotive travelling up and down the track all day long. Not needing it myself I did witness that it is wheel chair accessible with assistance to get on and off the train. You can save money by purchasing tickets online. Definitely worth a visit.
What an amazing day we had here. We got the family standard ticket which showed us to just jump on and off the train. Thoroughly enjoyed it here. Lots to do including, train rides, a museum, falcons and food & drink establishments. Didn't expect to stay as long but got there at 11:15 and left at 15:45. Even my two 15 year old girls enjoyed it.
Thought the train trip was quite good but the icing on the cake was a visit to the museum. Whst a fantastic place, could have stayed there all day as it was so enjoyable. If your up this way it's a must visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Well what can I say, if you come to the island this has to be a place you must visit,it take you back in time to place where manners mattered and enjoy the simple pleasures. The guys and gals that work here look smart in there uniforms and are lovely to talk too, the whole place is very well maintained and clean in every area. You can get up close and personal with the steam train and the driver and staff are more than happy to take questions Also there is a restaurant and also a cafe and a museum, also there a falconry centre there which cost you 3 quid each to get in but there's a couple of shows in the day which is free to watch your ticket lasts you all day so you can hop on and off all day on the 10 mile track and indulge in steam all day Highly recommended
Had a lovely day here riding the steam train, but also visiting the carriage & wagon workshop as well as the Train story discovery centre where one of the lovely volunteers really went out of his way to talk & explain the history of some of the carriages, and include those extra snippets of information that you just wouldn't have gleaned without his insight & knowledge. Thank you for making our day that little bit more special.
It’s a nice place to visit. We went there on November 3rd, but unfortunately, it was closed due to some unforeseen circumstances. We spend about 30-minute and managed to capture some incredible photos. Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Brilliant venue. Worth what you pay for. Proper steam locomotives with proper coal and the museum workshop is a must see! Amazing how much love, detail and work is put in the restoration of old engines and carriages. Really lovely!! Their gift shop will not disappoint for train or model train enthusiasts.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
First experience on the island train & a good one at that. Trains run frequently & there was plenty to snoop around in the museum, you can even connect to the main line if you want. There was a bird flying display twice at the main station which I believe is being relocated in the future which was well worth a watch. There is a cafe, restaurant, ice cream & gift shop. All in all a worthwhile visit
Fabulous ticket staff - friendly, proactively supportive and helpful. It's a great little steam railway. Our resident train expert was gutted that 'the train was from Leeds' and marked it down for this reason. No, me neither. Good cafe stocking local ice cream which was great quality. Stations and hardware well maintained.
