Have been customers of this excellent Chinese takeaway before, don't be put off by the outside of the premises, the delicious food prepared here is some of the best we've ever had. We opted for the Set Meal for 4 option and weren't disappointed at all by the huge and heavy box that was given to us once we'd paid. The spring rolls are the best we've had, much bigger than the norm, they have chicken and pork, as well as the usual bean sprouts and vegetables filling. We had great dinners between the 3 of us for 4 days!
Visiting the Isle for couple of weeks and tried this take out chinese, the food was ready quicker than they said which was great and it tasted lovely, would recommend!
Personally I like a Special Chop Suey... and I've had many... can be very hit & miss usually BUT tried it here in Island Star and have to say it was one of the best I've had... All the right ingredients, rich tasty gravy and best of all freshly made with super fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this establishment, Thank You! 13 August 2022.
Lovely Chinese food! Maybe a little to sticky on the sauce, but we enjoyed all of it. Great to have found such a good Chinese restaurant out here!
Really disappointed with the food here last few months, pale cubes of chicken, overcooked noodles etc etc. Had a Singapore chow mien and it was awful, had one since from Peking cuisine and it was fantastic ‍
Awful service. Awful food. Won't be going there again. Paid over £40 and was given the wrong order. Had to drive back ten miles to collect what I had ordered. They were entirely unapologetic. I drove home with the food and it was disgusting. Nobody ate it. Poor show!
When it comes to Chinese cuisine on the island it doesn't get much better than the Island Star, serving meals on a Sunday when nothing much else is open and delivering quality everytime. I have never been disappointed with my dinner from this place and have even tried things out of my comfort zone that have gone down with aplomb.
Lovely food! I ordered the house special chow mein, spring rolls and the house special fried rice and it was really delicious! One of the only places opened on Sundays in Stornoway and right in front of the Ferry station. Really handy!
Don’t know how there can be negative comments. Meal for two has fed both of us for two nights! Loads of Chicken, Beef and King Prawns in the 3 mains and the ribs and sp/rolls were great! One of the best Chinese meals I’ve had, sit-in or takeaway
Got a great takeaway from here the day before I left the island. All the portions were enormous and of a great quality. My brother ordered the special fried rice and when it came you could hardly see the rice because of all the meat and King prawns that were on top of it. I, myself, having had a disgraceful experience at another Stornoway takeaway, ordered Duck with vegetables and what a great dish it was, you could hardly see the vegetables for the duck and not a cashew nut in sight.
