Although we didn't venture inside the building other than to locate the restaurant we found it so beautiful. If you are into architecture and history you will love it. There are lots of art pieces scattered around the outside of the buildings and kept us guessing we made a fun hunt for adults and children. There was a cute little cafe stationed inside the courtyard but not in the building and a restaurant downstairs in what can only be described as bomb shelters. We loved it . The food was delicious and the seating was spacious. Unfortunately our group opted to sit outside to eat as not everyone had covid certs at the time. The gardens would make for a lovely stroll for couples and they are kept beautifully - even when no flowers are blooming there is a lovely feel about the place. Pity about some of the buildings that tower over... thankfully not a complete eye sore. There is a little miniature castle like structure at the end of the gardens that really peaks your interest. You can only look inside the ground floor but it doesn't stop everyone. I would encourage visitors to read up on the garden quite a bit as so many designs, structures and placements of flowers have a meaningful purpose behind them. We will be visiting again in warmer weather!
Certainly worth the trip out and a browse around. If more for its location and the beauty of the courtyard and the old hospital building it is housed in, than the quality of the art and the exhibitions here. I'm not a fan of modern art but I still enjoyed the experience. even if the views from the museum windows are sometimes more exquisite than the paintings! There's also a shop for visitors, a cafe and restaurant located across from it.
A must for all lovers of modern art. Visiting the museum is free of charge. The concept of each installation is explained, becoming accessible even to the less experienced. The outdoor garden with the tree-lined avenue is even more beautiful in this season.
This museum in Ireland is a wonderful museum with a lot of artwork, sculptures, modern art. It is a vast area, the exterior also holds historical information too. I had a good time there. Hope you will too!
Visited imma in march this year and i really enjoyed it! it was very interesting seeing modern art for once. The exhibitions i saw had great depth and meaning behind them and i enjoyed my guided tour : would visit again!
The beauty of the courtyard and the old hospital building it is housed in are stunning and definitely worth a visit! There's also a shop for visitors and a coffee van in the courtyard. With regards to the selections of work, and the way the rooms were curated was OK. I had been expecting work similar to what you find at the Tate Modern or Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Before going over, I read it was suitable for all ages to visit so I took the kids. My main concern was how the man sitting at the front desk checking tickets allowed young children 3+6 to enter an exhibition with x-rated imagery. Had to try to explain why they were looking at a woman with her hand down her pants... So...I would visit again, but probably on my own ;
The building is beautiful and the gardens even more... Exhibitions are small, not the best I've seen. There is a gift store and a coffee shop. The gardens make the visit worth it!!!
Lovely workshop at the Big Bang Festival. 2 days of Drum and Dance!! Thank you for this free gift.
Some interesting art to see. I especially enjoyed some of the films and the sculptures in the garden. Was pleased they had a vegan option in the cafe.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
