Have been staying here for a month now and so far I enjoy it a lot. The room is very spacious and the kitchen has lots of good facilities. However the walls are thin and at night if someone is coughing in a room 2 doors down you can hear it. The water pressure on the shower isn’t that good but is bearable. I havnt used the gym yet but it seems good. Overall very good accommodation and it is good to the bus station as well which is good.
Place is nice, shower has low pressure and there is a couple mice. The mice tho are honestly chill I can't lie, I got this smelly one hiding behind the fridge he's a bit shy.
I was going to save my written review for after I left but after two years in Kerria House part of Wilmslow Park here’s my review.nnOne of the housekeepers has a rotten attitude for no apparent reason lady with glasses, headscarf. In the past, as I was leaving the accommodation by the side door which to this day idk if it’s allowed or not but everyone uses the door, she stopped me and said “mama, does this look like a road to you? Don’t do it go through the main door” - weirdly condescending for no reason. The worse bit was she only stopped me whilst another guy walked by then another person??? This week, I went to do laundry and the same housekeeper was watching TV whilst she was working on cleaning the laundry machines. I was loading my machine and whilst she had about half the room to go, she came over to me pointed at my laundry detergent bottles “is this yours? Move it because I’m cleaning”. WHY SO RUDE? I get it, it’s a bit of a mundane job to clean after university students who can sometimes be horrible, but I wasn’t??? She also proceeded to speak on the phone whilst still watching TV Goodness forbid if I was ever speaking to anyone like that, please tell me that I’m rude.nnOn the other hand, all the other staff are really lovely. I’ve been here for two years and everyone remembers you by name including security who are both quite helpful. Receptionists are significantly nicer than ones I’ve met anywhere else and maintenance are really easy to log and get attended to really quickly without questions. Helen another housekeeper is so friendly.nnGreat study space and free gym. The bathtub in Kerria is an added touch although I really wish the showerhead was better it’s quite weak. I didn’t complain before because the last group of receptionists told me I could just change the showerhead, I’ve been told that this isn’t the case anymore so now the water pressure is on the weaker side.nnThe room itself is great, lots of build in furniture in Kerria which has just been refurbished.nnLocation is superb. Overall it’s on the more expensive side for accommodation but certainly reasonable for what they offer. I would recommend staying here despite the one really rude housekeeper.
Worst accommodation ever. When I arrived, so many things were already not working. The microwave literally caught fire and it took them ten days to replace it. The lift was broken for weeks. The bathroom fan stopped working after two weeks. Now the kitchen heater doesn’t work, and when I requested a fix through the app, someone came, broke the switch, and then marked it as “resolved.” It’s a complete joke. AVOID.
The room and facilities provided are good. The staff are unfriendly, and cannot accept their own mistakes. Furthermore, maintenance take ages to come and fix things. For instance, my heater, toilet and window was broken since i moved in. It took them approximately 3 months to fix it, and my window + toilet is still broken bear in mind that its winter at the time I'm writing this so the room can be freezing.nnThe walls are reasonably soundproof, however the windows are not, you can hear the cars going by at night.nnSo going by the amount of money i pay and the service i received, i am quite disappointed. I advice that you find somewhere else to stay.nnUpdate: its been at least 7 months since my window is broken, they still haven't come and fix it. They came into my room 5 times, each time promising to replace it, but they have not done anything. Also, now that it is summer time, the room gets incredibly hot, the record in my room so far is 38 degrees at 9pm at night, which makes sleeping impossible. So please please please do not come here, I do not want you to suffer! Also, please note that there is a response from the IQ team under my review, do not be fooled! They did not do anything even though I have contacted them many times in the past, it is probably just a part of their PR stunt.
