A small town but not many shops of interest. Few charity shops too many cafes and take aways.Tgere is a big Tesco, an Aldi and a Farmfoods store due to open soon.
The traditional station buildings remain at Inverurie. The station is walking distance to the centre of Inverurie. There is good parking and the platform is very long. There is a waiting room and it is nicely maintained it is really old style. I visited in May and there were some nice spring flowers on display on the platform. There is also a coffee shop which is part of the station builings but it was closed at the time of my visit.
The waiting room closes really early and, whilst it is well-preserved, it is the only proper shelter available. It contains the toilets. There is a ticket machine and an excellent independent coffee place. It can be very cold and lonely here.

Good little railway station however parking is almost impossible - as parking is now charged in most of the Inverurie car parks people are just using the station as it is free leaving travellers with nowhere to park. Could you not issue parking tickets to train travellers to stop others using the car park?
The cafe was busy but asking to use toilets forget it. I would have happily paid £1 but they simply refused and forced travels to somehow find in a short amount of time other toilets or buy something. This should not be allowed to happen. Disgusted that someone is allowed to rent facilities from the rail companies and treat travellers so distainfully and not offer a comprimise. Will remember in future to be organised and never return.
Ticket office only open part time. Ticket machine in shelter at near side of the station a little bit hidden at far end of platform. No wheelchair access from ticket office side of platform to other side which you do need . Severe shortage of parking spaces for regular train users.
The worst situation. Ticket office is closed at 1:50pm so you've got no where to sit inside without buying something from the coffee shop next door and that goes for winter time as well. Last year I got hyperthermia 6 times waiting in the freezing cold! And when I asked staff about why they close at 1:50pm I'm met with a horrible attitude.
The small cafe is worth a visit, even if you don't want the train. Great soup, eat in or take out.
