The island is uninhabited although it is home to many seabirds. It has many fortifications from 1541 onwards, the last being from WWII. You can sail out on your own or catch a boat tour with Forth Boat Tours.
Small island with fortifications dating to the mid 16th century and used through WW2. Currently inhabited only by sea birds.
Very small island in River Forth at Edinburgh
Good stay. Quite peaceful and a scenic hotel location. However the rooms were not up to standard as they felt quite cold and the bed on the floor wasn’t comfortable. The staff were unhelpful as they would only be busy and screaming at 2am. Food was dry and too salty. Would come again however as was a great experience
See it best by boat, boat trips around firth of forth are frequent from sth queensferry
Very interesting Island, with lots of history dating back to the 16th century.
