Negative news always travels faster than positive. I just wanted to let others know how professional and polite everyone at this company is, I asked for a specific vehicle, I got that vehicle in a fantastic condition ready for my use. The fees were upfront and accurate and as I looked after the vehicle there were no charges when I brought it back, just as it should be. Will be using them time and time again, small company tucked away that needs more advertising, thanks Imperial
My experience in Dec 2022 with Imperial Hire has been nothing less than superb throughout. Dasty in particular, but also Munaf and the rest of the team were superb in communicating with me whilst I was in Singapore, and altering vehicles collection / pick up dates and times. I would highly recommend the company to anyone!
We needed to hire a Van to transport stock into London for the day. Couldn't be happier with the price and the service we received. I know where we will be going next time we need to hire.
Be Aware! Everything went pleasantly smooth until two weeks after the hire finished, when I get a notice of Parking Fine PCR?, which in my opinion is wrong anyway and which I have appealed but that’s a different story, plus…. a GBP35 Imperial admin fee. The fine is an eye watering GBP100, or 60 if you cop an early plea, then this mob charge you 30% or 50% admin on top. Apparently, as it would seem with most negative reviews on here, ‘they are only passing on the fees their leasing company charge them..’ It’s clearly a racket, be aware.
Retained the entire £250 deposit to replace a single tyre. The car in question had no security fitting to remove the damaged tyre, so I was stranded roadside for a few hours while they tried to sort something out. I will be using a main brand hire company in future, for the peace of mind if nothing else. **Updated to reply** I was told at the time I would have my deposit fully refunded due to the inconvenience of being stranded roadside for so long. This happened when the UK went into lockdown, as such I had other things on my mind at the time and never checked up on it. I only remembered again today as I need to book a car for next week and it jogged my memory, so I checked and the deposit wasn't returned. This prompted my call this morning, poor experience and subsequent review.
I am absolutely, totally disgusted with this company, and here is why... I ordered a hire car approximately on 4th August. Details as follows: Local Branch Details: Imperial Vehicle Hire Ltd, Peacock House, Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted HP41EH Booking Reference: #1230383 Company Reference: DEL AND COL Date From: 18/08/2021 Arrival Time: 09:30:00 Start Location: Berkhamsted Date To: 19/08/2021 Return Time: 09:30:00 Return Location: Berkhamsted Total Days: 1 VEHICLE REQUIRED: Group CCA VEHICLE AUTOMATIC. I was told that 1 day prior to hiring this car the company would call me to collect payment and deposit. 5.00pm came and went on that 1 day prior with no phone call from them. So, I tried calling, but they never answer their phone, so I left msg asking them to call back. Someone did call about 5.20pm, only to tell me that there is NO hire car for me, because the person who has hired it has not brought it back so far. They said they have no other autos available, only manuals, which i told them I did not want. Anyway, I was hopeful that the person hiring that car was just late, and that I would get the car by the next day. I told them so, and asked them to call me anyway. They called me the next day, but well after the time I was due to have the hire car delivered anway, only to be told that the car was NOT yet back. They didn't offer me an alternative, just told me it was not back. I must say, I was pretty furious for a few reasons: 1. They made no attempt to locate a vehicle elsewhere for me to hire. 2. Phoned me right at the last minute to inform me that my car was late. Furthermore, I simply do not believe that a car hire company cannot secure another car to meet the customer's requirements. This company has let me down, massively. I would NEVER EVER recommend them, not even to my worst enemy.
Hired 2 vans recently and on both occasions the staff were friendly yet efficient. It was a great experience and a great price. Well done to all at the Berkhamsted office.
Hi I rented a kia Niro from imperial car hire for over 2 weeks and and I can only say all went smoothly until the day of collecting their car and noticed 2 minor scratches on 2 wheels. I was sent invoice for £228 for tiny scratches and from my previous experience with other companies which I rented more expensive cars it was only charged £62 for each wheel so almost half what I was charged from imperial care hire. Just to clarify this it is scratches not DAMAGES I believe that they over charged me and I think they even make money from this type of claims. I have to say I’m so disappointed with this and please be aware of this hidden charges. Habib

I have a small business - rented a short base van: First they asked for my personal information - licence and NI number, so I emailed a copy of my picture licence and quoted my NI number - then the next email after giving all my private information was "we do not have the vehicle" this was done less then 20hrs before pick-up. Spoke to Paul the manager - he admitted this happens regularly and did not offer a like for like over booked like most greedy companies. If you are in the Chesham / Berkhamsted Buckinghamshire area and looking for a good reliable local business to rent a van or vehicle please see: J & R Car & Van Hire, this company has real working people unlike imperial vehicle hires posh money greedy people.
