I was too lucky when I went there! Paul, who is originally from France, was too patient with me to teach me about aged sheep and goat cheeses and about some local Scottish cheeses! I have never encountered someone who is too patient like him who was also helping with a smile on his face. I ended up getting three types of cheeses which I am very happy about and one of them is Ewe sheep cheese aged for 30 months! Thank you Paul again in case you read this message.
Great quality products. I really enjoy their charcuterie, although it's not necesarily cheap, I don't mind paying a little more for good quality. What I do mind on the other hand is being scolded by one of the ladies working there for touching the packaged products that are on display. If they don't want their customers to touch the products on display, they may wish to consider placing them behind a glass screen or placing a sign to inform customers. It wouldn't stop the flies constantly buzzing about but would at least make the purchase experience a little more enjoyable.
First of all, I have to say that I love cheese. I work in Switzerland, so... Make the maths people. I enter the shop, and I fall down the rabbit hole of cheese dreams. They have a stack of cheeses on the table only from Scotland/England, and local farmers was a wet dream in the making. There is not a bad thing to say for this beautiful shop. The girls were nice and polite. Local product and wine bottle. Possibility to do a small "apero" in the back room. Max 4-6 people.
Good selection, a little pricey but it is very good quality. Staff are nice if a little shy.
This place was on our hit list for a while. Alice was superb with choices and knowledge was exceptional. Will definitely be back.
Popped back in on Saturday afternoon with my friend. Excellent service and advice...the fennel salami delicious and we ended up with 3 suggested cheeses & nice bottle of red to accompany all recommended by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful little gem of a shop..with lovely staff
Nice selection if cheese's plus more. Staff very helpful, and the cheese we purchased was very good. Seemed to have a good selection of wines etc, but I didn't really look. Well worth a visit.
well .. it's expensive. Not MAD expensive but it sure is expensive. It's also probably the best cheese shop in the world, and if not in the world, they'll give a run for the money to any other cheese shop you've ever seen. Don't come here for £4 cheddar, this is a place that has the highest quality, all artisanally made cheese in existence. the choice will make your head spin, you'gonna need to ask the man.
Good cheese. I was in a rush and wished I had the time to listen to the staff on what cheese was there but instead I gave the very kind lady a 2 sentence brief with what I wanted and got some top tier cheese. Happy and sorry if I came across as rude for just asking you to pick for me!
Terribly variable these days. I have no idea what is happening at this shop but there is a constant turnover of staff so no real detailed knowledge of the cheeses but importantly the quality of the cheese is very variable. Some is in good condition and some simply is not. Sad to see a decline in this store over the last year or so.
