A very detailed mosaic floor inside a building that houses and protects it. Worth finding inside the park
A rather long, hot walk across the park, and unfortunately not much to see when you get there. Thankfully it is free entry. It is a mosaic inside a building that houses it for protection. Strange location, but that's where it is. Directions clear with signposts throughout the park. Some description of it inside.
Such incredible mosaic work and so well preserved and conserved all these years on. Definitely worth a visit
To get an idea on what the Roman's bought to Britain with their sheer indulgence this amazing floor shows what they did for England. I was surprised that there was no one present at the site considering the importance of this site. I was appalled to see a plastic bottle had been dropped into one of the original vents designed for channeling the hot steam under the floor. There is good access for those with limited walking and to say there aren't toilets present on this small site. Again like the main museum there isn't any scale models to show you what the original building looked like or where the building would have been situated in the town. The nearest to this would be the drawing at the information board outside the building.
Beautifully preserved mosaic and a few information boards about the history of Verulamium and the house this was a part of. Free entry and well worth visiting.
Fantastic place! Did a school trip here and there is lots to love about it from the interactive exhibits to the very very helpful staff. Well worth taking a day trip to St Albans so that you can explore the lovely park just down from the museum itself. All museums should be like this: small, personal yet utterly absorbing. Top tip: it may be worth parking up to a mile away and then walking in as it can become very very busy, especially during summer with the free splash park drawing a good crowd.
Take a short side trip and really get to know some idea of how the Romans dealt with art blended with utility. The best part about it is that it is in such good condition, that you can get a better sense of what and how a small part of the city looked like some thousand years ago.
This is located in Verulamium Park. I remember seeing this in my childhood on a school trip and it was so nice to see it again! The mosaics are lovely and it is amazing how the design elements were so ahead of its time. Would recommend a visit.
Fantastic mosaic and views/access
Worth to see how great Roman empire used to be!!!
