Reviews
Personally, a lot of the reviews on this place are total lies.nnFirst of all, staff treat you how you treat them, as would anybody — which means if you treat them with respect, so will they. Anybody that’s getting treated without respect are very likely over-exaggerating or aren’t treating the staff as they would somebody they respect. It’s basic manners to be nice.nnSecond, the ice skates won’t be as comfy as you’d like. Every foot is different. Rental skates obviously will not fit your feet perfectly unless you’re really lucky. There’s a reason professional skaters get their skates tailored! What I’d recommended is wear two pairs of socks and bring plasters, maybe get a size up along with that.nnNext, the ice won’t be silk smooth. Honestly, the fact that some people expect the rink to be able to get hockey practice done, refresh the ice, finish a public session, clean the ice again and do another public session is INSANE. It’s a privilege to have the ice rink open to the public and not just to players, so I don’t know how people expect figure skating practice, hockey practice and up to 2 or 3 public sessions to fit in within a week!nnNow the toilets. I will admit they aren’t the best things, but they’re truthfully not the worst. I think there are 10 of each gender toilets in total around the rink, of course some of them aren’t going to be pleasant. It’s not a rare thing in public, is it? We’d all like it to be a bit nicer, but what can we do.nnFinally, all the niche topics.n1. Of course there’s going to be a lot of kids/teens. It’s a public place… if you don’t like how people are acting, it’s common sense to report it to someone. n2. The seats are not at all broken. Whatsoever. If that’s the case, just find a new one that’s not broken. If a hand dryer somewhere is broken, you’ll use the other one won’t you? You wouldn’t complain about it!n3. Queues. Again, it’s a public place. As you would anywhere else, get there early if you think there will be queues,n4. They only accept coins. Nope. In the cafe, which does have designated opening hours, you have the option to pay by card/contactless or cash. And you also do to get tickets, according to the last time I went.nnSome reviewers should be sent back to school.
I can only describe it as a teenagers playground with no adult supervision! This was half term so kids were being dropped off and basically left. Lots of swearing, kids sat around on their phones and just silly behaviour.nnThat being said there were some families, including myself and children, all trying to navigate the ice around screaming, giggling kids falling over or creating long lines holding hands so no one can get around them.nnThe coffee machine would not accept any coins but the cafe opened at noon. Reception were not bothered when I told them about the coffee machine. No selection for anyone with allergies or dietary needs. The girl serving was pleasant but again it was run by young girls, in the cafe, in the skate booth and another watching the ice.nnYou can hire equipment for the younger or less experienced children. I honestly think we may just have picked a bad day/time. We will go again as my child enjoyed it.nn10am until 2pm, one adult, one child with skate hire £17.60. Oh and if you use a locker 20p and forget something, like I did, it swallows your 20p and you have to put another in!nnCar park is reimbursed.
What a dump ice was like it had just had 10 games of ice hockey played on it had ruts that deep they would be suitable on a motocross track. No lockers toilets are available but wouldn't recommend using them would be safer just doing it on the ice. If you want to go to a proper ice rink professionally looked after go to blackburn hawks home rink they also have the best ice hockey team
Loved it clean tidy. Bit tight at gates to sit and circulation apace. But staff kind supportive. Ice good smooth quality. Some rinks trust me it's rutted at the start.nThis is nice boots hire good condition and sharp .
Tragedy, abandoned place. Someone had accident and scattered blood all over . Warden walk by not even bothered to clean it up. When I asked twice after 20min they found the mop. Told the manager. Bought coffee and chips ended up asking for refund horrible food and drinks. Not even talking about toilets. TOTALLY ABANDONED PLACE.
