Haven't attended an event at Hull city Hall for a long time, since about 2007! I remember at that time the event, which was some Chinese and Indian dance theatre and had very reasonable tickets on a sliding scale, so affordable for those on low incomes. I remember speaking with an older woman who worked there and telling her I was so pleased it was accessible and affordable and she also talked with me about the architecture of the building saying they specifically wanted to make Hull city Hall accessible to everyone to set an example of inclusive practice and enabling low income demographics access to quality arts, culture and architecture.nnI do not know if Hull city Hall is still inclusive and accessible. I hope so, from what I'm told of my great great grandad my father's mother's grandad, who was the master builder not the architect who built it, it's what he would have wanted. I hope Hull can retain those good quality roots of equity, decency and fairness, ensuring the city hall is accessible widely to nourish all its citizens.
This- from a band point of view as we appeared at the Hall last Thursday as the Two Pianos Rock n Roll experience. As a Hull lad this place is steeped in gig history and these days PA/Sound technology has progressed to such a degree that views on amplified sound in such buildings are outdated. The sound was excellent.nWe hired local sound guys HPSS who work this room regularly.nThe Hull City Hall staff are all welcoming and most helpful-the ticketing staff/front of house did a sterling job.
I had a fantastic experience at Hull City Hall! I've attended several events there, including performances by Jimmy Carr, Paul Smith, and a Christmas concert. Most recently, I enjoyed a brilliant Classic Rock Concert on Friday. The venue is easy to navigate, and most seats offer a good view of the stage.
I thought this was a lovely venue. Beautiful space, lovely staff. There was some confusion with ticket collection on arrival but this was quickly sorted by the box office staff - thank you.
Great venue, seen many events over the years..typically comedy shows or musical performances like opera or classical renditions. Acoustics are pretty good in the place, and it's easy to get about ad find your seats or bars. They even do a 'scan a QR code' and they will bring drinks and snacks to your seat.
