Huddersfield railway station is a bustling transport hub that serves as a gateway to the town and beyond. I found the station to be well-maintained and conveniently located, with easy access to platforms and amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing assistance whenever needed. The station offers a range of services, including ticketing options, waiting areas, and shops. Overall, I had a pleasant experience using Huddersfield railway station and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.
Other than the construction works going on, this is a great train station which has easy access to all corners of the country. It's a shame that the barriers are not in operation half the time, and your tickets aren't checked, so it feels like you wasted your money.
This was a solid station to both depart and arrive at, with appropriately sized platforms for the trains and staff checking tickets at the broken gates! Various departure boards make it easy to track services and similarly the signs help with navigation, as does the underground tunnel. This has ease of accessibility through both stairs and a lift, leading out to the main stations areas where cleanliness had been maintained!
No complaints regarding Huddersfield train station. Trains were on time on a Saturday full of strike action and its well served by taxi services, as well as being right in the town so you can literally step out of the building & go shopping. There are a few spots that could do with a lick of paint & a good scrub up with Mr Sheen etc, but otherwise a good station.
Because of delays I was travelling with an off-peak ticket during peak hours, spoke to Thomas expecting the same level of respect and understanding provided by all other staff working at this train station and was treated with nothing but contempt and disrespect during the whole conversation, plus I was forced to pay for another ticket.
Huddersfield is an ancient industrial town with many factors. In these present times it's not much as it was in terms of industries. It's now more of a less dense town with some ancient buildings, a standard university as "University of Huddersfield", a stadium and some nice shopping centers.
I don't use the trains that often, but every time I do there's only one cubicle open and is very slow. The person in front of me walked off alas he said he's now missed his train because we was waiting in a line for nearly ten mins with one person holding everyone up and only one person dealing with it.
Great train station staff are always helpful and the station is always clean The reason for the 2 star review is because for some idiotic reason they decided to remove most of the cycle bays in the train station, I was lucky there was 1 spot left this is obsloutely stupid as there is lots of space and no reason to remove 3/4 of the cycle racking also the racks are so close together it's almost impossible to get a lock around your bike as the other bikes are so close together. PS:Huddersfield train station sort this out please
A declining town with far too many closed shops to count. Nothing here worth visiting unless you know exactly what you want and where you want to get it. Prefer to go to Halifax or any other town/City.
I needed to be on platform 4b. I asked an official to point out the lift which he did but didn't tell me that the other lift to 4b wasn't working. I had to carry 2 20kg cases up the steps. I would have thought there would be people to help. I'm 74 by the way
