Great service from start to finish. Very helpful and friendly staff. Special thanks to Glenn for his patience with numerous alterations to the design and to Paula for her help and support in making it easy to to choose Howdens Guisborough for the supply and delivery of our lovely kitchen.
Why is it only trade sales when there is no other place in town to buy what they sell.
Pleased overall. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and this enabled us to get a really good design for our kitchen. The quality and appearance of the units were great. We were a little disappointed that some of the fittings were not delivered as ordered . In addition one of the units was badly damaged. Pleased, however, that Howdens exchanged these without quibble. A small further point - despite a promotional bottle of Prosecco being offered if we drove over to order the fittings, we were never given it. We could have phoned!
Howdens were awful for where it matters, there's too much wasted space in there and hard to each areas. The guy came kindly later than usual, so I assume after 5, to walk us through the options but neglected to notice how flustered and unsure the landlords/parents were, I find this unacceptable. He did as Howdens expect I'm quite sure, nothing against him, but there's only pictures for each thing in the book but no specs, so they went purely off appearance over workload and practicality aye, I'm a fan of appearance too of course. But, I feel Henson's took advantage of their naivity and whatever reasons had them unprepared for the multi-thousand pick-and-mix. Appropriate advice is talking the pros and cons to each-some were, but very few. They'd probably have spent the same or more at howdens if it were for sensibility and better communication. Between this and a friend, we've had three kitchen suppliers-a certain DIY store which does faulty unprotected wood/hardware, and neglected to design worktop supports which resulted in it bowing. Their new kitchen is grand, with few flaws which only speak against the fitters. Noteably, though, is they included two more photos of the virtual kitchen before green-lighted and also sent a link to view the virtual kitchen in an interactive sort of three dimension. Howdens welcomed to view it only in store, and refused to share prices claiming we'd use all their design elsewhere-but elsewhere do independent designs. When a kitchen company claims for custom made, it suggests everything will be tailor made to me, but Howdens just got measurements and calculated how much of what, among all their standard sized stock. Probably standard for all but still frustrating for me. So nothing at all is made just for the kitchen, it's made/ordered to a custom quantity of each standard hardware or cupboard etc. The result is loads of wasted space, loads of plinths and the joiner we hired externally having to cut things to fit. The top of cupboards are typically flawed with any fitter, but having bare rough wood in unacceptable surface area quantity and gaps for things to fall down and get stuck means just that and loads of dust and grease getting caked on there. Yes, we always do use the extractor, and speaking of which, the customers thought they were getting a filtered extractor insisting there's no space for a vent because of a one story flat roof behind, but there's plenty of room for a vent above-standard height. They had no idea they got a vented anyway, thinking it was filtered. That and the fact it came all readily built; They insisted on the "flat pack" going into the damp wet cellar where the wood would expand but the joiner wisely did his own thing, saving their 5,000 "pick-and mix" 2,000 installation. Simple plinth would make the kitchen a healthy, sanitised room and more importantly perhaps, easy to clean. It's god awful to clean at present. The drawer front which came off becuse the fiber board broke around the screws-when we got the replacement, the lazy receptionist dumped the new screws and drawer into hand loosely, no bag no box nothing, fortunately we had a freezer bag in the car. We're yet to replace the freezer drawer which broke within weeks and given the wrong sized replacement. We aren't heavy handed. The other's there in shop waiting. The pin holes for adjustable shelves are too sparse, so likely gone cheap on the multi-hole boring machine. We bang our heads on the door above the oven way too often because it has a standard side hinge, not a flip-up to be out the way. Under the hob is loads of gaps, so the infamous cutlery tray below got jammed. A simple perforated metal sheet would allow for smooth ventilation and less jamming. This kitchen is actually worse than the last, albeit brighter, and overly expensive for what's been said in this review. I've been using it for a long time, I get in a really bad mood every time. This reviews months old, edited last night and morning they've contacted the customers and as my partner who lives in the house. Stressed
