My family and I are so grateful to Carl, Nicky and all the team at Howard's Funeral Directors in Southport for their exemplary handling of my Uncle's funeral arrangements. From the very first phone call, we felt we were in good hands and were then fully supported through every step. Carl came out to see us and explained everything very clearly. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and we were encouraged to ring at any time if we needed their help or advice. The family were impressed by how professional, respectful and efficient Howard's were throughout and also very touched by the genuine warmth, sensitivity and sympathy we were shown. Howard's arranged for Peter Goulding to conduct the service, whose wonderful delivery of the tribute to my Uncle was praised by all, and they also obtained the stunning floral tribute. In every way, they made a sad and difficult time much easier to get through.

Thank you to Carl and all the team at Howard Funeral Directors from Jayne, Joanne and the family. Warm, sensitive and professional throughout, someone was always available with just the right information or advice or kind word. We felt safe and cared for as he guided us through these important days. Thank you also to Peter Goulding for his gentle handling of the funeral service. He helped us to remember our mother’s life and delivered our tribute in a personal, positive and uplifting way.

Funerals are never pleasant but I am sure Howards could have done a better job for my dad.Like many of their kind they certainly know how to charge, even with things such as flowers being priced well over market values.I have two main complaints the first being the price for the coffin,we were quoted a price verbally and this was substantially increased on the written quote.I rang to ask why and they apologised and said they would take care of it but when the bill arrived -too quickly in my opinion- we were still overcharged.The other complaint is about the civil celebrant,we provided him with some background on my dad and he simply read that back to us word for word at the service! Money for nothing and quite distressing for us.If you decide to use this company ask for all quotes in writing and check the figures carefully!
