Victoria is from northern Sweden and she brings a Scandinavian touch to the style, the service and the baked goods on offer. Simon has been a chef all his life and loves to create. Sandwiches were ok, nothing special considering how pricey they are for a takeaway. Bacon sandwich £4, a small. The bacon wasn't the best tbh. It's personal preference at the end of the day. Cakes looked good but far too expensive, so we didn't get any.
Top quality food at reasonable prices, currently only take away but there is some seating available in very pleasant surroundings, if you have time a stroll around the village is worth the effort.
The best egg custard I have ever had, I've even had two pieces this week
Due to a diversion as a result of road construction we passed through Hovingham by chance and what a lucky diversion it turned out to be. We both had an egg and bacon sandwich and couldn't have been happier with the quality. The owner was very friendly and our food was prepared quickly. Only regret is not buying some of the fresh bread and other baked goods that were on offer. Everything available looked amazing. Will be stopping in again the next time we're in the UK and would recommend it to anyone who may be in the area.
I bought a Sausage and bacon sandwich was almost 5 quid. It was quite small aswell. Some bloke who worked there seemed a bit rude just kept staring at us frowning
It's very popular situated by a beck in the heart of the village of Hovingham : the home baked cakes and breads are delicious and varied : a great selection too. There is an indoor cafe area that's small but comfortable outside plenty of seating . It's very popular the service is great and the staff really friendly. The cakes and breads cater for every taste and are based on that day ! Relaxing and really nice atmosphere
Great bacon and sausage sandwich. The coffee, however, wasn't great, and there seemed to be COVID restrictions still in place as we had to order from a table in the doorway
Fantastic bread, scones, buns and coffee in a lovely location
Bread rolls and soup were delicious. Food & drinks were overpriced for takeaway service. The café needs to be reopened as sitting outside didn’t work for us due to the wind blowing away our containers etc, also wasps around!
Brilliant bakery open now for scones and pastries for cyclists, lovely staff and food....stopped again for tea and a scone yesterday, pleased to report that bakery is still open and busy, seats outside as tea room is closed... March '22Tea rooms still closed June' 22...scones still great!
