Much more than just a gift shop. Good place to visit on a rainy day. Free parking and free entry. Enjoyed the little museum, glass blowing and marble runs. Kids even got some time in the outside park between rain showers. Cafe was very busy so would be wise to book if you want to eat there. Amazingly they even allow dogs inside which is great
Loved this place! Had a great day with the kids, there was something for everyone right from our youngest 5 all the way through to the adults! Nicest loos I've ever seen too! Lots to enjoy! The brass rubbing kept the kids wanting to explore more! Would highly recommend!
Popped in for a snack and found the place very interesting. Lovely interesting items in the shop. We shared a Devon cream tea, 2 scones, cream and jam and a coffee for £7. Would have been nice to have had butter too. Nice surroundings outdoors to sit and eat. Friendly service.
Nice little place to explore. Marble runs are pretty cool and it's free entry. We arrived quite early and the staff were having breakfast so we didn't see any glass blowing but will visit again soon :
Took a slight detour on route back from Cornwall to visit on recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. Lots to look at including the mesmerising giant marble run, the old kilns and the museum. Restaurant was pleasant with nice ambiance. It was raining when we visited so didn't get to spend long outside, but could see it would be a great place to spend an hour of two with space for the kids to run around. For us, was a great find and well worth setting aside a couple of hours to explore.
A short bus ride on no.39 from Newton Abbot. This place has a shop, small museum and demonstration area of how marbles are made. Large carpark and during half term break this place was busy. People had there dogs inside. There is a restaurant as well. The collection of marbles is impressive and suits all budgets with the cheapest marbles costing 5p. Well worth the visit.
Such a lovely place! Much larger than we expected, so clean and nicely presented. Cafe was incredible and children's play area really nicely done. Seeing the glass being made was incredible! The prices in the shop were really good! So rare these days! The marbles were particularly good value! Some were only 5p! I have a nine year old who absolutely loved the place, but who also rates everywhere by how nice the toilets are. Here they were excellent! Clean and immaculate! Out of ten, my boy rated it 10 billion!
The house of Marbles is worth a visit, to get a lot of information about the art of glass in the past and nowadays. Also other historical facts are shared and everything more or less related to glass and marbles. There are a lot of gifts to buy for adults and the children.
Free to visit, live glass moulding and making by artists when we visited. Cafe gets very busy so best to book in advance, great food too and very reasonably priced. Lots to see, great gift shop for big and small gifts.
I absolutely loved this place! Lots of gorgeous Christmas gifts and treats. I could have spent a fortune. Plenty to see, including the glass blowing which was great. The restaurant was really lovely and the food was delicious. Can't wait to go back again.
