By choice I won't be going here again . I don't know who the nurse , roughly in her 60s with a blue coat on did my vacine today . Horrible attitude . If I wear a mask I choke . Have a look on my records and see why or listen to me instead of comparing me to her daughter in law who I don't know either and practically calling me a lier . Bit re education needed
Just visited as the online and maps data is incorrect, and was told I have to go to A&E, but whole centre was empty - GP's getting paid with no one to see!. I asked why googles maps was not updated and was told they 'couldn't do that' as there are 'many parts of the NHS!!' What joke. I'd already rung 111 and after 40mins on phone, no answer and cut off, so I drove all the way here to be confronted by rude staff and summarily dismissed. My face has swollen and I have red patches which needed to be seen by a GP at least, so left no choice now but to either go hone suffering or suffer 8 hour wait in hospital that is miles away. Why are we even paying for the NHS anymore!!
First time I've been to this place and I think it had excellent staff and facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's a new building with plenty of space and ample car parking.
Visited July 2022, no longer a drop in centre, referred to Sunderland RVI A&E as were 2 other patients. This is a local, reasonably sized, fairly new Primary Care Centre, it is such a shame its facilities are not being used fully. Outdated website.
Adele who answered my call went above and beyond to actually help me and sorted out my request quickly and efficiently with no problems, unlike other receptionists I have spoken to at other medical centres. Thankyou x
Houghton primary care centre advised as a walk in centre for covid booster injection s but anyone without an appointment is being turned away.
Get your websites updated instead of giving out false information to patients with a urgent matter you can’t just go and walk in and wait to be seen as you state !!!! And when you’ve been trying to contact 111 from 9.30am till 5pm constant with no answer then told when I go to your walk in that I can’t be seen unless I have a 111 appointment expecting me to drive to Sunderland to then sit in A&E When I LIVE AT HOUGHTON with no means of getting there and that unwell I’m not able to drive there myself you lot are a absolute disgrace !!!! God forbid anything happens to me within the next 24 hours until my doctors surgery opens !! 111 online service assessment also stated i needed to be seen immediately also !!!! You lot need flogging
Recently been to the out of hours clinic in the Houghton urgent care centre after not been able to get an appointment with my GP constantly tried for a couple of week. Got in straight away, seen an amazing GP who listened to my concerns and I received the best care. Couldn't be more grateful especially as someone who works full time.
First. The building opens at 8, the walk-in is 10 but they do have a good queueing system. Second. We have been several times with kids with injuries and the care/treatment given has always been superb. Yes you do have to wait sometimes not the staffs fault!!. You can leave once booked in and return nearer your time. There is also a very reasonably priced cafe you can go to.
Where do I start? Some of the staff are a disgrace. The way MOST of the reception staff talk to patients is terrible. I was seething tonight and had to bite my tongue as I was ready to explode. They used to have a sign regarding verbal abuse to staff - probably still have it - but they wonder why they receive verbal abuse with how they talk to people. If some of these people worked for me I'd sack them on the spot. As a family, we have visited this centre several times. A couple of standout incidents: Following a car accident in which I was advised to go to this centre rather than A&E, I was told by a doctor to rest, and only rest, and was refused an x-ray and/or MRI. WRONG CARE! My own doctor, who I visited a few days later, went mad at what I was told to do - I subsequently found out I'd sustained a ruptured disc in my back and doing what I was initially advised to do was a huge mistake. A family member visited as she'd injured her foot. I knew she'd broken it and told her to visit the centre. Big mistake. She was WRONGLY told she had sustained tissue damage only and was refused an x-ray. WRONG CARE! A few weeks later, still in agony, she visited again, had an x-ray and found out, guess what, she had broken her foot. Tonight, I visited for a joint issue and was seen by a nurse who was out of her depth. I should have been seen by a doctor or physio. I've had problems for years with my knees following football and martial arts, and don't have arthritis, and something just "went" on Christmas Eve. If you've had joint problems, you'll know what I mean by that. I waited a few days before deciding to see someone as I have experience with things like this, and as advised by doctors and physios in the past to wait before arranging an appointment. So to be belittled and spoken down to by the nurse I saw was a disgrace. I was cross-examined as to why I hadn't seen the doctor in 8 days - I explained, but the nurse didn't give a damn. She evidently wasn't listening to what I was saying and treat me like an idiot. I was repeatedly told "...This is an urgent care centre, not for someone like you, why didn't you see a doctor before now? Why did you wait 8 days? We can't do anything for you. You have no pain, can drive" ...amongst other things. Bearing in mind, I explained my knee was stiff and painful in the mornings and when I drive it was difficult and painful at times. She vehemently told me I can't drive if I can't do an emergency brake - at what point did I say I couldn't do that? I can. It's just painful. She told me the pain I had felt was probably arthritis and that it develops over time. Well yeah, I know that. So explain how I've never experienced stiffness and pain like it in my knee before Christmas Eve? It just came on like a shot. That's not arthritis. She couldn't explain it. She essentially said there was nothing wrong with me and told me I had to see my GP. This nurse completely disregarded all that I had said, and was saying, and could not understand that for me it was urgent as I work away and travel in a few days time today 2 Jan, I travel 8 Jan 2019. I've had enough of the horrendous lack of customer service at this centre. I'll never visit this place again.
