Hospitalfield is a an astonishing location just outside Arbroath in Scotland, its dedicated to contemporary art and ideas, and prides itself on being a place to work, study, learn, visit and enjoy. It's a beautiful Arts and Crafts inspired house, including a magnificent Picture Gallery, one of Scotland’s most important Victorian rooms housing the Allan-Frasers’ collection. In 1902 Hospitalfield opened as a residential art school and became an important place of study, with a strong relationship to the four main art schools in Scotland. Now, its an astonishing trace of almost 150 years of artists ambitions, wealth, collecting, history, teaching and learning. It's a great place to visit.

Went to visit today to show some foreign friends and as we approached the entrance an irate lady appeared saying 'don't i think it would be better if i asked first before looking around', I tried to explain that as we had to walk down the driveway to get to the entrance before we even got to the door, it is impossible to ask first.... but on and on she went. Would hate to think of the reception you'd get if you used the cafe.
