Had a lovely lunchtime meal here with our 2yr old grand daughter. She was very pleased to find that there were a few toys to play with, so I didn't need to get out my ones. A fair choice of menu, a little costly, but good value. Very pleasant, attentive staff. The high chair was very clean, with no hidden grubby bits! Always a good sign as to the general cleanliness. Well done.
Lovely stay for myself and my partner attending an evening event near by. Friendly staff throughout. Food was good, room very comfortable, spacious and very clean. Tea and coffee machine, also dressing gowns in the cupboard. Access with key after closing hours, we found the front door a little difficult to open but would happily stay here again.
Unexpectedly ended up here after trying a pub in Cranborne that wasn't serving food. So glad our plans changed as it was a really lovely meal the pie was outstanding! and welcoming pub. Made to feel very comfortable with our muddy boots after a walk and our dog too, thank you so much we will definitely be back! Thank you.
What a great dog friendly pub, dogs are welcome throughout the pub and restaurant areas. Staff are really friendly and welcoming and whilst it’s not a massive choice on the menu, the food was great. The ribs are huge see picture as it doesn’t do it justice and all reasonably priced. Definitely give this place a try you won’t be disappointed
A little gem, we stopped here for a light lunch on the way to our getaway, and it was so nice that we decided to stop again for an evening meal a couple of days later. The food was lovely, and it's just a nice place. We'll make sure to stop in again if we are in the area sometime in the future.
Eaten here before, about 6 months ago, and wasn't impressed with the service but the food was nice. Tried again today and the service was poor again. Arrived to a mostly empty car park, ordered our drinks and food and then waited an hour for it to be served. Told twice it was "just coming" but had clearly been lost/forgotten about. The table behind us that arrived 30 mins after us, got their food minutes after ours, so it couldn't have been down to how busy they were. Either short staffed or very poorly ran. Kept hearing "no more walk-ins" being passed around the staff, only for table after table to be presented with menus. Sometimes it's better to say no and just deal with the customers you have. Prices are edging towards being too much for what you get - £20 for a small roast! A shame, as it's a lovely spot. But tighter service from either better trained staff or more staff required. Perhaps we'll try again in another 6 months!
Food was amazing! You can tell it had been freshly prepared, such good value for your money. Service was also so good and the waitresses were lovely!
We did a 5 mile walk around Gaunt's Common on a Saturday and finished up for lunch at the Horton Inn. Our table was reserved so there was no problem about finding seats. The food and the service were excellent. My steak and ale pie had lots of nice pieces of meat in it with a very nice and propper pastry crust, sides and base. Others had different meals all of which were to the same high standard. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the servers. We would definitely go there again.
Totally underwhelming food and unprofessional staff. During the entire meal staff were behind us discussing their staff meetings at full volume. The napkins clung to a sticky table. The vegetarian pie was overcooked on the top and had a soggy bottom. The contents were unrecognisable and the only flavour was pepper. The chips were dry and so were the carrots and peas which were also undercooked. We eat out alot and this experience doesn't come close to other eatery standards. Very disappointing.
The Horton Inn is my regular meeting point for lunchdates. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming and the lunch menu is fabulous value for money. Highly recommend
