Stunning location, was here for trooping of the colour. Amazing event, showcasing the ceremonial side of the kings guard, once a year celebration of the kings birthday. Lot's of soldiers and horses. Great pageantry.
We came to see the Trooping of the Colour. You have to book ahead online whether you choose seating £15p.p or £5 p.p for standing. There are three times in June to watch this event. It's really worth a visit. I highly recommend this. Buy a brochure for £10 which explains the history and explanation of the procession.
Incredible views. I've never seen horse guard before I came here. There were many tourists from everywhere. I recommended from a friend one of mine to track course. So I first visited Horse Guards Parade at 10:45am. It started at 11 am. I looked almost 5 minutes, and I moved into The Mall Street to see the military band they passed the road at 11:35am. After that, I looked around Buckingham palace.
We attended The Colonel's Review of the rehearsal of The Trooping of the Colour. The Irish Guards were on duty. Colourful, spectacular, impressive and lots of music. Other troops were the Life Guards and the Royal Artillery, so there were plenty of horses, too. It's the place to enjoy some great British tradition and culture.Visited onWeekendWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYes
A must to see in London. It’s all part of the great British history. The horses are amazing and very well behaved, although they do on occasions get upset about a few things. Lovely to see. Always venture through the archway and see the main parade area and gardens.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
One of this days is going to happen one accident because the people touch the horses. There are an informative sing but nobody reading. I didn't see the museum yet maybe one of this days. Amazing spot to watch the King's Guard horse detachment parade through! We got a super helpful Metropolitan Police mounted policewoman whom told us to wait 2mins and where best to stand for Horse Guards Parade.
So pleased we were able to make a stop here and see the Horse Guards in action. Two were stationed outside, whilst two Guards were inside on foot. It was a pleasure and a privilege to be able to see them, and to grab a quick photo alongside them too!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This is one of the must stops for my trip. If you have time to stick around or plan it right you can see the changing of the guards. There were loads of people there by the time I made it there but it was still great to experience. There's also a little souvenir shop around the back. Just to point out, these are real guards, not just people play acting. Please be respectful.
We actually went to see the household cavalry museum, which is in hauz khas parade. You little advertised museum. Covers the history of the household cavalry. Both other palace and in other attachments around the world. The museum is very authentic and you can even smell horses even though there seem to be none located there anymore today. Whilst, we were there, an inspection of the household cavalry occurred at 4:00 p.m. . Apparently this tradition dates back to Queen Victoria when she used dentry at this game to get to Buckingham palace. At the time she arrived, 4:00 p.m., there was no guard on duty at this gate. As a result she decreed that for the next hundred years the guards at the gate would be inspected everyday at 4:00 p.m. . This was to ensure that at 4:00 p.m. everyday, when she went back to the palace, they would always be guards on duty. This tradition continues to this day and has been decreed by Queen Elizabeth II to continue for another 100 years. It was certainly a crowd. pleaser. At 4:00 p.m., a few minutes later than we arrived, over 200 people had grown from almost nothing just to see the inspection. Also taking part were armed members of the metropolitan police, who are there in a supportive role to help ensure only authorised personnel get through the gates to get to Buckingham Palace
