Sadly I have had to cancel my membership with Horizon due to not being able to book on to classes probably user error, but I still feel the centre is fabulous and facilities are very good… I had the pleasure of speaking with Laura in customer relations today who is a credit to the Horizon team and very helpful… thank you
On June 28th, my brother sent an email to Horizon asking to cancel his membership because he was moving back to London. He has a dual membership with our sister, who has also moved back to London. They had entered into a 12-month agreement, but since they moved more than 15 miles away, they were still eligible to cancel the contract. I have been handling the communication to get this contract cancelled , and unlike my previous experience cancelling a contract with Horizon, this time we had to go through Legend by Xplor. I must say, their responses have been terrible. When I communicated with Horizon, their replies were quick and helpful, but Legend’s service has been truly awful. It has now been two months, and the contract has finally been canceled, but during this time, two more payments were taken from us £120. I have therefore requested a refund, as the service we’ve been paying for hasn’t been used, and we requested the cancellation at the end of June. Their response was: “Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, the evidence you have linked below is requesting a cancellation for a membership with a different email than the one you are currently using, and a different name? I can see that you also emailed the leisure centre directly and not ourselves. We would not have accepted this due to data protection; therefore, we are unable to process a refund.” Now, let’s break this down. Yes, it was my brother who first emailed Horizon using his email and name, which is the name on the membership. I then had to obtain my brother’s permission to speak on his behalf, which he granted. The email connected to the membership is my personal email, but that’s beside the point. That was the first occasion we requested to cancel this membership. They then state that because we emailed the leisure centre directly, they won’t accept it due to data protection. This is honestly laughable and quite frankly ridiculous. We emailed the leisure centre with whom we have the membership, and this other entity, whom I’ve never heard of, says that it doesn’t count and they don’t recognise it. The idea that this entity can say that due to us emailing the leisure centre with whom we have the membership with means they can’t accept it and give us a refund is just insane to put it politely. I will continue to push for a refund, but in the meantime, my brother, sister, and I will all be submitting reviews because this situation has become a joke at this point.
Joined WLV Horizon gym 7 years ago. Really enjoy the classes and the peeps. Staff nice, friendly. Good variety of classes. My moan is that if you cycle there and lock your bike thinking it will be safe as there is a security camera facing down on the bikes. Don’t be fooled. A friend had her locked bike stolen a few months ago and my bike was stolen yesterday which had a heavy duty chain lock on. Horizon security told me that they didn’t have the man power to check the cameras at that time. Told to get a crime number and hopefully Hampshire police will have the manpower to take it further.
I did my first experience working with the exercise equipment with George and he was excellent. The range of equipment is really good and to suit all needs. I would also the cafe and all the staff are lovely. Recommend this gym totally.
Very nice leisure centre with a great well maintained pool. The lifeguards are very strict though. Although they are only there for our safety it felt as though they were trying to stop me having fun.
Good yoga class. However, the place is scruffy. Needs a good modernisation. It's been like it is for donkeys years. Dirty in places of the studio we were in. Mats need replacing. Changing rooms are dire.
After a completely unhelpful experience with a member of staff over the phone, I decided to go in and speak to someone in person. At the gym help desk, Tom managed to sort my account issue within minutes with no issues or troubles at all. Much appreciated.
The gym is decent but lacking some more of the most popular machines. Only one lat pull down, same with the pec dec and lots of other examples which means you end waiting around a fair bit. There’s a lot of pieces of equipment that are never used, they just need to do away with them to make space for more of the above. Also forget going between 5pm - 8pm which is standard in a lot of gyms to be fair. They need to consider opening 24hours like a lot of the competition. The lack of options in the area is probably part of why most locals choose this gym.
I went here at around 11:40, with my two dear friends for a cheap lunch’n on a saturday. Ordered a pizza and three iced coffees was served by the waitress called Jessica. Very lovely service. Food came quick. Will come here back soon.
Bloody, great, happy staff and good facilities I might be a little bias of this place as been coming here since I was a freckle but yeah great again for the children or the gym swimming.is fun and the play area too!!
