I was lucky enough to visit this gem and I will say, it was one of the most favorite parts of my trip! I arrived about 40 minutes before a tour so had some time to explore the grounds. There wasn’t a lot of people there, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Every single person I came in contact with was friendly and knowledgeable. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a gentleman who was very friendly and directed me to many different areas. While exploring, I had a wonderful conversation with a woman upstairs who explained to me in detail the art in the hallway and ceiling and explained the bedrooms. She had lived in Florida for a while and was a huge Outlander fan. Then I was lucky enough to partake in a tour and the woman who guided it was very friendly and informative. She spent extra time after the tour answering some of my questions. I then went into the back and explored the grounds. I spent a few hours here but could have spent even more. I’m so glad I decided to visit this gem and would highly recommend it to all! Thank you to everyone who made my visit joyous!
After seeing the Christmas fair advertised for a while I finally made it and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The house is stunning and I was so impressed with how attentive and helpful all the staff were. My dad has some mobility issues and everyone was so great showing us the disabled access and ensuring he was okay and finding places for him to sit in the main house if he needed a break! It was so beautifully and respectfully set up too, so you could enjoy both the beauty of the house and the Christmas Market! I bought a few little things from some of the stalls which were a little expensive but so lovely! I love supporting local businesses too so I was happy! Would definitely go again!
Highly enjoyable and fantastically organised. Wheelchair accessible. We checked on the website in advance and tried to call ahead, however, it turns out we didn't need to worry. They had plenty available and let us drive right up to the front for disabled people. Although they couldn't participate in the handful of upstairs rooms, we were very well looked after and enjoyed our time walking through this beautiful home. We loved the volunteers and the staff, so friendly and informative. From the introduction at the beginning to set the scene, the information cards and the tour guides in a few of the rooms, we had a lovely educational experience. Thank you for a lovely day.
I thoroughly enjoy photographing weddings at Hopetoun House. The majesty and grandeur that Hopetoun offers is second to none in the area. There are so many spaces for creative photography and exploration. If you're looking for the WOW-factor for your wedding venue, look no further!
Cool place to visit if you are looking for something to get up to. The actual house is well laid out and has plenty of interesting historical items which were further detailed by the very knowledgeable staff members. Worth the effort to climb the spiral staircase to the roof where you are rewarded with a cracking view of the grounds and the three bridges. Pleasant walks around the grounds if you are up to it........
I recently photographed an amazing wedding at Hopetoun House. It's such an amazing location. The interiors and exteriors are really beautiful. It's such a perfect place to get married. The staff were super friendly and very welcoming. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time at the Christmas Fair! This was our first time and we were amazed how well it was organised. The stuff was really friendly and the sea cadets were very helpful in the parking. Never imagined that we will park right in front of the house! We went Sunday afternoon, it was busy but the house is so huge it was spread quickly. We enjoyed looking the different stalls, got some beautiful honey. The Christmas Carols by the choir and the decoration just put us in Festive mood immediately. We would like to be back to the House another time when there is a tour to hear all the interesting history. It is definitely worth visiting.
Wow what a beautiful place, the grounds and gardens are beautiful. We did not go inside as we had the dog. Very impressive place to visit or have your wedding there. If your an Outlander fan like myself there was loads of the buildings and grounds used for filming as well as inside. A must on your list to visit.
A very good half day outing. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. I expected there to be more variety of flowers, though. House was very interesting with the volunteers informative and helpful.. thank you.
Great Place to visit. Car parking is plentiful and close to the house. The house is amazing and what is surprising is the owners family is still living there. For fans of the TV series Outlander, there were several scenes taken in the house and grounds. Ask to see the ipad pictures they have for more info. They have a charming Cafe and grounds to walk through if the house isn't enough for you. Staff were very knowledgeable and super friendly. All in all a great place to spend a couple of hours or so.
