I have been to many salons around the globe but Hooker & Young Ponteland has to the best by far ! Not only is the salon fabulous including the wonderful massage chair at the basin , the staff and their expertise are truly outstanding ! Gary and Samantha worked their magic on my mane and the attentive service is second to none. Worth travelling to 100%.

I have used the same hairdresser for years so trying somewhere new for the first time made me extremely nervous, however, Samantha completely reassured me, listened and did not go scissor happy on my long hair.  Samantha made some suggestions and also recommended a hair treatment and explained that there was an extra charge for this so that I did not get a surprise when I came to pay at the end.  Very helpful.  I was also offered complimentary tea/coffee and a head massage.  Samantha also thought ahead and did a skin patch test for when I'm ready to start colouring my hair.  The only slight niggle I have is that when it came to blow drying my hair Samantha had to go off and deal with another client, however, she did come back to finish my hair off, I would have preferred to have had Samantha do my hair from start to finish but understand that the assistants have to learn somehow.  Overall I was really impressed with the look of the salon and how friendly/welcoming and calming Samantha was and I will certainly be returning.  I'm hoping to try out their beauty facilities as well.

I can't tell you how many hair dressers I have been to in my lifetime, but there have been MANY! But I can pretty much guarantee that I will never search again. The standard of talent there is just outstanding, I always walk away feeling amazing, I look great, and have always had a great laugh with the stylists and the colourists, I would invite them round for drinks and have them as my best mates if they actually lived in Pontleand I love them that much. It may be more expensive than many others, but you get what you pay for in this life, and a trip to Hooker and young is worth every penny in my eyes.
