We had a really lovely family meal in. Dog we accidentally booked for happy hour and enjoyed a few cocktails with our meal. Food was delicious and the service was super friendly! The pub is beautifully decorated too.nnOnly downside was, I could have eaten more! But really recommend.
This is an update: The meal we just had was beautiful, Staff polite courteous and informed . A real pleasure to eat here!nnBe prepared for large portions , I didn't. The nacho starter was as good as a main meal and really tasty. I had the bourbon ribs and couldn't even start the second one. Staff were quick, pleasant and attentive . The place was really busy and had a quick turnaround of tables. We weren't rushed in any way but do recommend booking especially at weekends. RECOMMEND.

First of all, I’ll just point out the food is not bad, it’s just not better than average for the cost and quality.nnI’ve been visiting hoof and hook since it first opened, the burgers were the best in town, juicy, tasty, soft, excellent. But the best thing on the menu bar far, was the ribs, some of the best I’ve ever had.nnI visited recently, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I placed my order and mentioned that the ribs were no longer in the menu, and that these were amazing, the staff member said “yes everyone says that, but it’s not the direction the chef wants to go in” personally, I think taking the best item of the menu is a massive fail.nnI ordered the burger, all I can say is, it’s now average at best. These used to be the best burgers in town, they are dry and tasteless. My girlfriend ordered the seafood brioche and although the sauce was nice the brioche was also dry.nnIts food is nowhere near as good as when it first opened and from speaking with friends they also agreed. they were also disappointed the ribs had gone. It’s now more style over substance, with higher prices and smaller portions.nnTakehome - most of the pub food in Tenterden is now better. Bring back the old menu.
We had a reasonable meal here, although it seemed a limited choice.nBurgers, steak or fish, and one of our group felt the wine was expensive £28/bottle.nThe one thing that annoyed me was the automatic addition of a 10% service charge, yes I know we don't have to pay it, but it shouldn't be there full stop, the service level should be good enough for me to want to leave a tip? Hence only 3 stars.
