Thoroughly enjoyed Hoo Hill maze and will be going back again soon. The host John was very friendly, the maze is amazing and lots of wierd and wonderful things place around the garden. Looking forward to going back in the spring with picnic in hand
Great Fun! We had a really good couple of hours going round and round the maze trying to find the centre and then trying to find our way out, laughing as we passed the same people, time and time again. Also exploring the wooded area around the outside of the maze. There are places to sit if you want to take a picnic and toilets. There is quite a large area for parking, but was very full when we arrived, so the earlier you get there the better.
Loved this place. The maze is very well done and kept in good condition. It includes a large area for picnics and there are a few objects to discover while wandering around. The rest of the gardens have to be explored to find all sorts curiosities tucked away in the undergrowth or in the trees.
I thought it was really nice and i plan to visit again some day in the near future....The host was nice and friendly, although he did over share some of his very sad news. I think if your going to do that you must remember that the people visiting are going for a fun day out, they are not paying to be made to feel sad.... But even still it was a nice place to visit and i would recommend.
Been meaning to go here for many years, finally did, and wished I gone sooner, what a great place, went with grandchildren 2 and 5, we all loved it, so many things to do and see, maze was well kept and fun, sheds with different things in them to explore, things just hanging from trees and in bushes, kids just loved finding different things everywhere, large picnic area, a must visit. Well done John and family
I visited the Hoo Hill Maze with my wife and two children ages 6 & 10 We all had a fantastic time loved the maze and also the gardens. We will definitely be back over the Summer! To add to the attraction the owner John was very welcoming with some interesting stories to tell too! Definitely 5 out of 5 stars
Fantastic place to visit any time of the year but especially in the spring and summer months where the surrounding gardens and orchard are all leafy. The maze itself is actually quite large, with tall dense hedges that make it impossible to see aroumd corners, its actually a real challenge to find the secret in the middle! In the rest of the pretty sprawling gardens there are perfect hidden places to stop and relax it's a great place for kids and adults alike. No shop or other services apart from a toilet, and it's only open on certain days with appointment, or most Sundays during the summer but that's what makes it a bit more special.. perfect for picnics in the orchard or a game of football or Frisbee on the grassy field. Will be back for more soon!
Booked the day at the Maze with my friends and kids19 people in total . We had a picnic in the open area followed by Easter Egg hunt which was a great success. Maze was such fun . Would definitively book it again.Highly recommended.
I rang John at 08:45 hrs on Sunday morning. He answered the phone : Fantastic place to spend a weekend afternoon with the family. Two boys enjoyed themselves. We managed to lose each other inside the maze! Picnic by the pink shed was our reward. I had to confessed plums from the tree were so fresh! We will definitely come back again for more fun during summer.
The place itself is beautiful and a great location to spend some time but the host needs to improve how he treats his guests. I had booked via a groupon voucher. Immediately as I walked towards John he asked “Groupon?”. When I responded in the affirmative he the shook his head vigorously in a rather negative fashion. I was then given a blurb on how groupon isn’t financially beneficial for him and they take all his profits. Frankly, his deal with groupon is not my business and it was even more awkward as all this conversation took place in front of another guest. He did however admit groupon is good for advertising, so make your mind up if you want to use them or not; don’t vent your frustrations on the guests. The whole experience left a bitter taste in the mouth. I did tell some friends and colleagues about the place before I visited and a couple of them visited on Sunday so it shows that groupon is a good way to spread the word. Overall, great location. My advice to John, treat all your guests equally and with respect and don’t work with groupon if it’s not beneficial for you.
